Staggered....!!
Looking at the floorplan, the kitchen alone is about the footprint of the type of house I am likely to end up withand as I've never had a reference point of "other people" before, it's quite upsetting that I used to believe I was "doing very well for myself" (pre my exposure to you rich lot on MSE).
To be honest I'm just lucky. If I was doing this off my own back I reckon we could afford a 2 bed flat at best. I inherited quite a bit from my mum's brother (she was adopted so he wasnt even a direct relative so that was a turn of luck) and then the bank of mum and dad has waded into the equation.
Even so, I look at all the halfwit traders in their 20s earning between 3 and 10 times what I do living in gated communities in blackheath and stupid flats in Mayfair and buying a new porsche every 18 months and think "I thought i was doing ok, where did it all go wrong!".0 -

I had no BOMAD. And any inheritance that was ever spoken of is now being consumed by care home fees, which have just gone up 5%.
I'll never inherit a penny from anywhere else/anybody else either. That was the "one shot".
Re traders.... it's who you know (based mostly on the schools you went to). So I guess Fenn Street wasn't up to scratch0 -

Siblings?
Fwiw, we don't expect to inherit. My family issues are complicated and dh's father remarried and she is a little bit younger, though not hugely, but we cannot imagine that things have been left in such a way that will benefit us.
Ours is still partly luck, and generosity of others (e.g the help I had with some of my medical bills in the past) but also, choices other people don't want to make.....rightly. Choices being right depend on the people , not the choice.0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »That was lucky ..... under intestacy rules, she'd have not been allowed, so it's good he thought to name her.
Really? If she was legally adopted, I thought the intestacy rules would treat her as if she was actually the child of the people who adopted her, and therefore the sister of their son.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Nice bath for a spinster pad, pretty but not oTT.

Is is long enough to have room for your legs when you're leaning back? It looks as though you'd have to have your feet up on the edge at the opposite end.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? It's really long....1960, where as we are looking at 1700. Tbh, if this were cheaper I would be tempted to put it on a slant in the room and damn masculinity.. It's got a leaf waterfall tap for goodness sake!!
It's just delicate and pretty!0 -
We bought a lovely double-ended bath once, with the taps in the middle. Really nice, and very MSE as it saved on bath water. I see that ideal Standard are doing them from just over £100.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
