    Crowning glory, innit?

Sorry ndg, I've always wanted to ask and this seems like a good time, but do you get wig hair, in the same way that bikers get helmet hair?

I don't know what helmet hair is, exactly, but I can guess.

Yes, wigs are bad for hair, for two reasons (for me, not for all barristers, as many are men with very short hair or bald).

Firstly, it flattens it to your head, and secondly, you have to tie it up under the wig, or else it looks ridiculous, so it gets kinked when you untie it at the end of the day. I have very long, straight hair, and I can't use a ponytail, because it won't fit under the wig.

Its like clothes for a dog.

    Though my dogs have clothes:o

I have stopped looking at vagazzle Images. It was starting to normalise in my mind and I was thinking hmm...maybe afterall......

    FC interiors? Wow!

Our model comes to the shoot with her dogs and one has his own handbag to sit in. Black shiny mock croc + gold. It is the most bizarre item but the little dog loves it. Curls up in it to sleep. Gets zipped up to go home on the bus and looks out the mesh panel.

FC Interiors one day in a few years time. I love this business....she has closed her Brighton store now and uses her home as a showroom and sells online or by appointment.
My work wouldn't look like this but the I love the concept.

You would be amazed at how many 'home shops' are opening up. Women sourcing niche labels that aren't in shopping mall chain stores, turning part of their house into a luxe shop environment, buying by appointment, posting up new stock on FB etc. It's almost like a new movement and it's being driven by demand not the other way round.

They tend to do mid to upper price points as running a shop like that for the GBP is not really viable any more plus there are only a few towns in the UK that they can survive in.

We now supply a few and they sell more than an our established shops sometimes. We also supply a 'home shop' in Lebanon and another in Saudi and they are ordering all the time.

On the teeth - I gather that my chum had all his existing fillings and crowns replaced. Remember that my generation grew up before Fluoride or flossing were invented, so heavily filled teeth are rather common. These do deteriorate over time, and he decided to have a refurb job done at SA prices. Either that, or his SA dentist was simply desperate for a new Lexus.

I wish your OH all the best in his new job. Will he start off by renovating the house in Margate?
Yup, that's the plan, exchange is imminent. Vendor has accepted that he can't have the sale logged at less on LR just so he can cut his CGT.:)
Still looking at houses.... just found another one that appeared "interesting", so I looked at it closer .... "passable" I thought.... hit Streetview. Might as well have been in the middle of Beirut.....

How come my budget only seems to stretch to hellholes? I'm not overly picky .... but there does seem to be a conspiracy against me. Yes, there are "nice enough" houses, but all 6 miles out, these are only 2 miles out of town and on a good bus route. :(

Could go on the edge of an area?. May have to accept that it's bigger/nicer place a few miles out or better location, lesser house. As my old Dad says 'twas always thus' :). Good luck hunting, you'll find something soon for sure.

Shame Margate is so on the 'edge' as the houses are cheap and the beaches amazing. No significant work there vthough so would have to be S/E. Plus too far away from Mum too.
This is a nice bit. Can't recall if you prefferred old or new

I like new, but refuse to pay the "new premium" - as prices have stagnated/fallen the people who bought in the last 5-6 years are still hanging onto the price they bought for and more. So, 1990-2000 is probably most likely.

The problem isn''t finding a house, with all the bits, at the price here. The problem comes when you start reading up where's good/bad and comparing it to what you found. There are fistfulls of great houses in all areas that are "bad".

Are you my husband? He said the same!

    I don't think so.

But then again, given the size of my hangover today it's a miracle I can type, so I could be wrong about that.:o
ETA: I love Louboutins, but does your wife like Ferraris?

    She likes Ferraris.

Both the cars and the team.

    (She doesn't like Alonso though)

IIRC our dear Inspector Monkfish experienced the same when asking a question regarding a blue badge for his daughter...

Oh yes, I remember that. They seemed to think that he should be able to drop Daisy (aged 5 or 6 at the time, I think, and terribly ill, of course) at the door of the hospital, and then go off to find somewhere to park and walk back 10 or 15 min. What they expected her to do by herself in the entrance hall of the hospital, I've no idea. They were really aggressive to him about it, too.

Helmet hair is one of the things I'm concerned about if I stick to my plan of switching to cycling to work once DD goes to secondary school in Sept 2015.

It might have something to do with your choice of one of the most expensive towns in the UK as your search area. I had a similar experience when I was house hunting myself, restricting myself to the most expensive part of town because I wanted to be in the catchment for a particular school, and then finding I couldn't afford the houses. I'm still not sure how I managed to get this one. I haven't seen anything since then within £30k of the price with anything like the amount of space I've got here. Of course, here has a weird entrance, and some people might consider the kitchen dated and the open treaded stairs off-putting, but I'm happy to be here. :)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I actually love your kitchen for a family home Lydia, and the entrance. Both are light, bright spaces. Your kitchen is easy for being near kiddos if they have questions during weekday evenings about homework and stuff while claim able as 'cooks space, do not come through here).

    Rainy afternoon jobs...QUOTE]

It has been a lovely suuny cold day here. I met a friend for coffee and lunch ....down at a marina.

The sky was bright blue, rigging was rattling against masts sounding almost musical as we walked through....so we sat inside out of the breeze.

I had not see her for a few months as other events have meant I have not been doing much socially. She had noticed though that I was seeing her on a saturday, whereas as a smug married with an OH who has worked away a lot I am usually half a couple at weekends...so I explained Mr Ss change of role and that it must mean I did not feel weekends with him so precious as we have more time together in the week..she was right to notice it though as it is a siesmic shift in my availability in 1 to 1 social things.

We also talked about the loss of my lovely friend...and I wept:( it confirms I am at the its getting worse before it gets better point. Feeling pretty urghh flat, demotivated etc ...went to bed at 8pm last night. It was good to alk and she was kind to listen.

Her eldest daughter is getting married later this year and she is giving her away (the dad livesin the US and has been useless for the last 20 years but will be there with his wife as a guest) and has bought a mother of the bride outfit. When I dropped her home I went in so she could try it on and parade around in it. It was lovely, she looks great in it and has a fab hat. She has fair hair and is slim and shapely, looking a lot younger than her 64 years.

As well as her ex husband her ex partner will also be a guest:eek:. I think she will knock 'em dead.

Shove them into an old pillow case - sew up the end - it's a nice dog cushion.
