Hi Cheapskate! Hello everyone!
Another even less occasional poster dropping by. I have been having more and more moments of  glancing around our house. We have tidy areas but every conceivable storage space is stuffed silly (and some randomly) and we have piles of stuff eg. end of bed, kitchen chair, top of microwave which is spreading out to side of bed, corner of kitchen table, next to microwave.... like a fast growing weed. Ours is more clutter than hoarding but whatever the label it needs sorting!
Today I am not in the right head space to tackle a lot but know I need to make a fresh start so posting on here and will aim to get rid of a carrier bag worth and then set a new aim for tomorrow. Am going to take one day at a time for now.
Back later to catch up on some posts... and feel inspired!

I've had a strop about DD3's selfish spiteful behaviour so DD2's room was gutted lol.. I got a binbag of rubbish and a binbag of unwanted school uniform.. she just finished high school. I used the excuse that I needed the paint and roller from under her bed.. it looks so much nicer in there now.. and she has much less stuff.. There are still 2 binbags of her stuff on the landing I am sending most of to charity shop.
I cleared a portion of the landing too and got it all vacuumed so it is at least cleaner if still full to bursting point!
OH still out playing in the garden..
Going to have myself a cuppa and get to sorting Moomins clothes.. then I am sorting Mimi's.. both have grown lots of late so there should be a fair bit to extract from their drawers. DS3 is swapping his chest of drawers with Dots so I need to get that organised ASAP too.
OH has a bookcase I am insisting on being built today once he has finished being a mudlark!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I want to put my in-use recycling bin bag in a tall thin cupboard that will soon be empty - the bags are the same size as normal rubbish bags so I was thinking a refuse bag holder inside the cupboard - but they are blinking expensive! I'm not paying 50 quid for 2 bits of metal to hang a bag over (don't want a lid) and the cheaper ones all seem to be for carrier bag size and really flimsy.
There must be an alternative solution, but for the life of me I'm not seeing it, so any great ideas?
ha ha! I've realised the solution I need to keep my bin-bag in place in the long thin cupboard is.... drumroll........ a bin! d'oh.
sometimes I get so caught up in finding lateral solutions that I miss the obvious LOL!
in other news I've just put the washing on using dishwasher powder by mistake. I'm not sure if I'm reaching a certain age or there's a moon alignment or if dd staying up til 4 am has just fried my brain. no declutteruing here today, haven't finished yesterday's task of putting the washing away: brain and body on a go-slow. may use the mental absence time to shred or something equally mindless.
boy it's miserable weatherwise here: still saves me having to water the pots and sort of washes the front yard.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Bookcase built!!! YAY!!!!! OH just screwing it to the wall and I shall go fill it up while they all have dinner... that will empty at least 3 very large boxes!
Sorted DD4's clothes so now have filled binbag number 4 for CS. I can't believe how much we are getting rid of, it is so liberating.
DD2's room she 'tidied' has now been mummy-gutted and vacuumed and is all clean and nice ready for her to have a screaming wobbly when she gets home. I have only thrown away paper, everything else has been put in 2 stacking crates I bought her to fit under her bed. Apart from the 4 pairs of shoes I have recycled... but we'll not mention those!
Landings, stairs, loo and 3 bedrooms vacuumed so it is looking almost presentable to a blind man up there!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Evening all x
Since my last post I have:
washed, squashed & recycled plastic bottles - 6 pop; 3 fruit squash, 1 water, 3 milk and 1 fabric conditioner
binned 5 wizenedy apples
recycled one bag of shredded paper & started to fill a second bag
unboxed a Christmas present and recycled the box/binned the plastic
I can now see kitchen worktop :T.
In my lunchbreak I 'sourced' the nearest CS and tomorrow I'll take them the 2 bags currently in my car boot.
Bin day tomorrow - the binmen will think I'm after the 'recyclist of the week' award
Thank you :lovethougxxIT ONLY TAKES SMALL DAILY ACTIONSFOR MAGIC TO HAPPENRosemary Ikpeme0 -
Had an un-planned de-clutter of the cutlery drawer this evening, couldn't get the tray to lie flat so it was time for ACTION.
Threw away 20 medicine spoons, kept 1. Threw away 2 plastic ice-cream scoop freebies and a plastic fork!
Sorted baby cutlery for the charity shop and nephews, kept 1 set for DD's memory box.
Question though, if I'm putting clean cutlery away in a clean drawer, where do all the crumbs come from? :rotfl::rotfl:

ahh one of the great mysteries of civilisation - no idea, but glad I'm not the only one!
spurred on by everyone's great progress, I have bagged up the stuff-for cs and put it by the door, ready to go out today, plus 5 cool bags, one christmas canvass bag (that came with a christmas present but really isn't my thing) and one canvas wine carrier (I never have need to carry 6 bottles of wine anywhere), took 4 things from dd's clothes drawers and 2 from mine so a start there at least:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Oh, I forgot, I also returned 3 dishes and a plate to a friend who kindly sent meals over when I was struggling recently.
It's good to see everyone else making progress too.
Have a good day xxIT ONLY TAKES SMALL DAILY ACTIONSFOR MAGIC TO HAPPENRosemary Ikpeme0 -
Now then my little clutterbugs! How is your flinging going?
I've filled a 5th binbag for CS today.. I must get the boys to rid the house of them tomorrow!
2.5 for the bin (my bins are fit to burst again!)
a few bits for DD1.
And a large spider has been decluttered into Henry's tummy!
The girls room is looking much nicer, though I still need to sort through a substantial chunk of stuff it is much less full.. but after all the flinging and bookcase filling it couldn't be worse! I did find a crate full of books which I had thought contained something else entirely! I have emptied 3 Tesco crates and 5 stacking boxes today.
I'm hoping my sister visits tomorrow.. my niece has the pox of the chicken and I would rather appreciate the 2 tiddlers getting it while they are too little to be very unwell.. knowing my luck OH will get it and be ill for weeks.. on a plus note if the littlies get it we will miss going to OH's mums for a month which means it would likely be the end of August before we could go again.. I know he'd complain but it is much easier for them to come to us, for us to go there it is a mammoth expedition.. they just get up and come here, no planning involved..

Sending pox of the chicken vibes to pigpen's brood!
If they get the illness you will miss the chance to see my extended (complete) family turn up at THAT carvery between Stockport and Manchester in a couple of weeks time - DD2 will be the one being dragged in (she hates carvery)... It's going to be 'such fun' to quote Miranda's mum (from BBC1).
I'm heading to mums tomorrow - Sat is her actual birthday! So I best declutter some more of the ironing today!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0
