yellowdots, I understand exactly what you mean re both charity bags and garage clearouts. I too clutter the house with charity bags because I donate to a specific cs, and I only go there when I'm in that town, which is 10miles and a toll bridge away. I think I may just haul everything to the local shop and leave it there on Monday instead, at least clear working space on the landing and in the basement.
I solved the garage problem by getting my son to come whilst his father was away. Son has no patience with his fathers hoarding, so he hired a skip, and cleaned all but garden things from the garage. All DH's salvaged stuff, and wood offcuts and spare lawnmowers etc were put in the skip, and this was removed by the company about 2 hours before DH arrived home. This was nearly 12 months ago, and although he knows a lot was ditched he hasn't yet remembered more than the lawnmowers and some wood he was 'going to build a cold frame with'. The skip cost about £250 and a lot of swearing from son, but it was SO worth it. Mind you this wholesale disposal hasn't stopped DH, he's salvaging stuff to fill it up again, but it's easier to keep something tidy(ish) if you don't have to face so much junk. Good luck with all your efforts, it will work out just as you want it.0 -
yellowdots,
You know you have to get rid of the pretty, non-fitting bras, don't you?
You can get pretty ones that do fit, I am sure. Or have pretty, fitting ones on your treat list; it won't magically make the ones you have got fit you again.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
:wave:yellowdots I like to share my donations between various shops. I feel this justifys me not buying charity shop Christmas cards anymore. I only send 7 cards now instead of 100+
fpcat...My DH is just as bad but because he never goes away without me I have begun to remove one or two items at a time from the hoard in the loft.
Each time I go up I can manage a paintbrush, screwdriver, electrical thing (Old phone charger/ connector etc):rotfl::rotfl:
I think he will never notice either:DStart by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say

five pigging hours to put ds's bed up.
basically because I decided not to completely dismantle it in order to save time. won't make that mistake when I use the bits taken off his bed to raise dd's next weekend.
he has loads more room now, 1 bag of random stuff binned from there and he's promised to go through his things with me tomorrow and get rid of one toy box so that will be a result.
your talk of underwear has reminded me that I have a whole drawer full of underwear from before the children were born (10 years ago) I think I can bin these! thank you!:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Hey guys?
What's happening?
Where is everybody?
Tomorrow, I'm going down to CashConverters with a few more bits to raise a bit of cash.
Whatcha'll doin'? Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
thanks re IBS and rumbling appendix, I was sure I knew kids when I was little who had on/off symptoms of appendicitis, and asked about it but the a&e doc said it doesn't exist. next time he is going to go straight there so they can see him whilst he is in the midst of it.
I'll try the food diary, and generally just a diary of when he's ill to show the docs
My DD had similar symptoms and was diagnosed with a tummy migraine - it had a definite relationship to food - tomatoes in particular.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Another example of what we don't want to be when we grow up here. Tragic. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0

No progress here, although DD has recovered nicely from measles. I'm lacking any kind of motivation to be honest. Progress in our bedroom has gone backwards as I've been to tired to even put clothes away..."Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0

I have got two loads of washing off the line, towels are away and the rest is in a heap to be dealt with.
I need to get some work done by everyone else has arrived home and are distracting me, I am cross at their thoughtlessness.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Hi
Gingernutty ..tell me about cash converters what is it?
I have hit a brick wall ..well not literally:eek: . Help! im going round in churning circles. Very work stressed, house sliding into chaos again dont know where to start. Just started full time job after many years of part time.
Catriona p I sooo know how you feel. Hope measly girl on the mend. xx
I have being reading all the posts and inspired and so pleased for those of you that are making huge inroads despite difficult circumstances.
So why cant i do it?
I know what the main triggers are.. initial extra expenditure until full time wage comes in (have to work month in hand) having to buy extra work clothes, extra fuel in car, extra food shopping to meal plan, but holidays looming which will swallow extra wage etc all the usual expenditure which makes me go into poverty mode. My brain then thinks i cant throw anything out because i cannot buy anything new at the moment.. so maybe if i keep it, fix it, dry clean it and so it goes on...Churning queen returns!
I need to break this cycle and get into a routine.Any pointers??0
