If you find the right place for it to go to/find the right buyer, is any of it going to waste?
Take it to a dealer and negotiate a price, perhaps?
Even if you take it to the dump and leave it to one side, it may be seen and taken. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

We have often put still-useful stuff outside with 'free to good home' on it, normally someone will take it.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I'm sending four pairs of shoes, with the Christmas prezzies, to my brother's family.
Big box which required all the wrapping paper I had.
Have also decluttered numerous chocolates. Tub of Roses, box of Lindt balls and two smaller 'classy' boxes.
I'm getting fatter, I can feel it.
I need to find a way of getting to the gym without aggravating the foot problems. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
A strange grey hat I found on my doorstep
A beautiful coat I've worn fewer than 10 times, it's far too big and swamps me.
A lovely, open, flappy fronted, black and white, linen mix cardigan/jacket - I've shrunk out of it and the bell sleeves catch on door handles and office chairs.
A random fabric flower I found on my way home from work on Christmas Day.
A lacy, open, flappy fronted cardigan. It's pretty but too short and doesn’t suit anything else I have.
Still going....:T:huh: Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Nice to see tbis thread resurrected
Gingernutty Many congrats on the weight loss!
Do you love the coat? Could you maybe carry on using it if you moved the buttons (it it's buttoned rather than zipped)? A friend of mine did that with a coat she loved when she lost weight.0 -

Still going here too. Last week I took 4 big bags of young people's/small size warm clothing & sturdy shoes up to my friend who works for a charity sending clothing & camping equipment out to the refugees. Two of these bags were DS2 & TDiL's rejects, but one was from DD2 and one from me myself. The charity gets given lots of clothing, but very little of it is appropriate for people who have walked across a continent with little to eat and are sleeping in tents in icy conditions; much of it is only suitable for people living & working in centrally-heated, double-glazed homes who are rarely outdoors for more than a few moments. So our offerings, from a draughty old house, were much appreciated. Some excess camping stuff & blankets will go off up to them shortly, too.
I'm getting to the end of stuff that should just be thrown out now, and need to start Ebaying again. There are good things sitting out there in my porch waiting to go to good homes, and I need the money and the space; it's the best place to start seedlings off, to go into my new polytunnel (provided the bantams can come out of it at the end of February) but the windowsills out there haven't been seen for several years...Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Thank you for this wonderful thread. I have just been reading/ re-reading the last couple of pages and it has made me feel so much better.
Congratulations on moving out offspring thriftwizard. DS3's lovely gf moved in with us at the beginning of November. Still have some unpacked boxes (in their room - the largest), heaps of stuff on one of the downstairs couches and they have 3 times more 'kitchen gadgets' than I have ever had (but not a slow cooker or bread maker, ones I might have wanted). They don't want children but I now have 3 grand-chinchillas. The second cage (boy has now had the snip and they are in together - fingers crossed they haven't bred and the girls kept escaping) is still in the front room and the single bed is still on it's side. A friend of theirs is coming to visit this week so hoping the cage/ bed situation will be resolved (otherwise he is sleeping with them) and maybe the extra books (I offered to buy them another bookcase but they haven't chosen one yet).
I have had the 'bug' that has been going around. However due to a depressed immune system, mine has been with me for 3 months. Unfortunately it's my diabetes affecting the immmune system, so I am stuck with it. I will be redoubling my efforts to lose weight as this must help. Other than that, I am learning to live with very low energy levels. At least I don't have cancer (indicated by one of my other symptoms).
I had righted my sleeping pattern, at least enough to interact with 'normal' people but a late appointment (7pm) last week has wrecked it again. Reading through has reminded me of where I was this time last year (so glad mum is in her bungalow, even if I am still wading through the detritus caused by her partner's children's chaotic removal techniques).
However I will be starting afresh on 'decluttering' along with losing weight, exercising (fell sideways into the yard 6 weeks ago and have had my foot strapped up for the past 2 weeeks) etc. As my signature states, I will be plodding and doing baby steps ie first walking goal is 5 times round the car park, so that if I cannot go any further I am close enough to hobble home. Next couple of days are dedicated to getting the sleeping under control.
Have a great year everyone. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
{{{Hugs}}} mothernerd, sounds like you could really do with putting your feet up - quite literally - for a couple of days first! Hope the lovely girlfriend is minded to be helpful... I too have had the bug & it's not an easy one to shake off even when you're otherwise OK; chinchillas bouncing off the walls at night (as ours always did) won't help your sleep pattern!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Reviving this thread... I'd kind of ground to a halt, but I'm holding a little tea-party next week for a friend, and the conservatory was still pretty much unspeakably awful. It's been too cold to be out there much, and out of sight is out of mind. So this week I've been going through the debris like a dose of salts...
This afternoon an entire van-load of unsold stock & no-further-use-to-us stuff went off with a freecycler who's doing car boot sales to raise money for charity. Yes, I could have done that myself, but there's more where that came from, and the weather's not great for car booting yet. I've also taken several loads to the Tip and only came back with some books, which will be moved on as soon as they've been read. (I happen to know another trader who will be glad of them - they'll be at Spitalfields market in a couple of months!) I've decided to take a job lot of fabric & other surplus craft supplies down to our local Scrapstore, and will expedite that early next week. It's all got a bit silly in my sewing room; too much stuff is getting in the way of me actually being able to do anything with it!
The conservatory & the porch are both looking much better, but there's probably twice as much excess stuff still here as I've sent off today & got rid of earlier in the week. (That included sending a small Dimplex electric stove and a large PVC tablecloth off with my brother yesterday.) My plan now is to get these two areas sorted & keep them that way, then tackle my shed & the garage. I haven't done too badly keeping the rest of the house clutter-free, so I'm beginning to believe I can do it.
I can't empty too much out of the garage yet, as the robins have nested in a box of my Ebay packaging, and I don't want to disturb the chicks. But the markets start up again at the end of this month, so I do need to get my stock in the shed sorted out & spruced up, and anything that's had its chance & hasn't sold moved on, whether by selling it cheap or just giving it away.
How's everyone else doing...?Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
