I may have to have a pyjama day tomorrow & refuse to sort anything out - I've broken out in cold sores, I think I may NEED a rest! It was hard work today, and not terribly lucrative, but lovely to catch up with my fellow-traders, who are the nicest bunch of people it's ever been my privilege to work with. And our regular customers are lovely too; I sometimes think I have the best "job" ever, even if no-one else is paying me to do it! Packed down, hauled home, cooked tea, sorted the washing out, washed up, fed pets, shut livestock away, put the stall infrastructure away & got most of the rest of DS3's room sorted out; he's on his way back from the airport now.
Cider o'clock now...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
thriftwizard does sound like a restful day would do you good, and you've achieved a huge amount recently so it's well earned too.
I know this is a crazy time to update, but a friend very kindly took 3 bags to the CS for me this morning. While it's a very small amount, the weight off my mind is amazing:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Sporadic decluttering here. Have managed to get two carrier bags of jars and an old set of WW Pure Points books away through free cycle. DH & I have both had rotten colds this week so the motivation has slipped. He suffers from arthritis in his hands so hunted out some fingerless gloves for him from the trug in the under stairs cupboard & took the opportunity to declutter that too. So 2/3 scarves, 3 hats & some gloves in the CS bag for next week. Visited family last week in Lincolnshire & DH's young cousin has bought a trailer tent & I've got a lovely set of Luminarc & Melamine crockery that will match the decor. Will give it to her mum for her in a couple of weeks so that's a bit more out.
My mind set has changed too - I'm thinking when we pop our clogs most of this will be binned/given away/ebayed so I might as well send it where I want to go now & save DS's & DiL the trouble!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

silvasava That's so sensible!
I'm hoping DS will have time to go into the loft soon; he put loads of stuff up there about 2 years ago and hasn't needed any of it so far! so it could go, and he has loads of carp in his bedroom which could then go into the loft instead if he feels he daren't let it go yet, then there would be room to redecorate his room and put a new carpet down.
thriftwizard You do sound tired out pet, I hope you are managing a restful day today.0 -
Thank you, Ivyleaf, I have my feet firmly up and have spent quite a lot of the day just catching up on some reading! But have just Freecycled a carrier bag full of (unsaleable) beermats for DD1 - perhaps this is catching on!Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

A few more bits and bobs have been decluttered from here again today. I have also managed to get some plants from the bucket they had been dumped into last week into the garden. It's one of those little jobs which didn't take long at all. I have also decluttered a few of the many weeds which seem to have popped up over night. Oh they do love a drop of rain.
I'm going to make a little stuffed toy tonight. I have a piece of printed fabrics which my DS asked me to make up for him. It will be another little job done and piece of fabric decluttered.

Terrible week here...
A few items have left the premises. Rather a lot more have arrived. No sorting out or tidying has been possible as both my time and my home have been too cluttered up. I'm a bit miserable about that, and determined to spend as much of the weekend as possible actually tackling the mess.
Part of me actually wants to give up what I do, so I could stop acquiring stuff to sell on. But actually, I'm not in a position to, as I couldn't hold down any kind of normal job just now & still fulfil my assorted family responsibilities, and the money that I earn pays for all the little extras like dance lessons (essential for DD2, it's the only thing she leaves the house for) driving lessons (so I can stop being an unpaid taxi driver) flights to & fro for DS3, a possible family holiday etc. So I'm just going to have to be very much more selective about what I take on - but I rather think I've said that before!
It's at its worst just now, as we head up towards the first of the summer "events" at the end of this month. I would so like to have a week or two of no-one losing their rag with it, it'd be far easier to get some kind of order into it without the constant nagging...
Enough negativity! Off the computer, and on with the getting rid/sorting out.Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Good Saturday morning, all.
There's been no progress here at all as Homebase still hasn't delivered the new Wallpaper Steamer, arrgghh. I hate to say this but with AZ you get your stuff...emailed HB - expected reply within 4 days (????), phoned them (PREMIUM number !!!!), put on hold for 14 minutes, then was told that the Courier took it back to the depot as he went over his mileage allowance (?????). No wonder business isn't good, tried you once, Homebase home delivery, never again....
Rant over, DD2 is on study leave so she's busy either way, even if the room is on hold. I'll try to unclutter and beautify some vegetable beds today

Nothing has been done here today. I have been out and about, ending up at mums looking at old photos. I found some from when I first had this house and was a bit shocked. It was very much an elderly ladies house but looked so much better than it does now. The family left some furniture when they sold it and I was lucky to get two bedroom suites of 30's style furniture which I love. Some of the other stuff had to go. I took me a while to realise why i felt it looked better then than now and realised that the house wasn't stuffed full of clutter and rubbish. Secondly because of the lack of stuff it looked looked after. I'm feeling a bit shocked, ashamed and surprised.
A concerted effort to sort this place once and for all has hit home hard. The photos will go up on the wall to keep it at the forefront of my mind and to help when slacking.
I've also realised my love of reddish walls has come to an end and it needs brightening up. The paintbrush will be coming out as soon as the rubbish leaves.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Don't be so hard on yourself Parsniphead. We all have different times to sort things out and sometimes other things get in the way. It will be lovely to show the photos on the wall anyway to show the house`s history.0
