Been missing for a time and no decluttering done for a few weeks.
Anyway a few things have been done this weekend and today we decided to move DS into the bigger of the two back bedrooms. My step son has moved out and only comes to stay for one night once a month Max so it seems stupid to be squashing a toddler with a small mountain of toys into a box room when a reasonably sized one stands empty, well apart from the junk he left.
I have decided that I want to swap them over during half term so that gives me three weeks to get everything sorted and decluttered, except I have decided I want to get as much of the house done as possible. Once the weather warms a touch I plan to spend much of it on the garden veggie plot to help cut food costs again.
So this weekend one room has been half done and three bags of stuff to the charity shop. Tomorrow morning I have three hours to myself so this is going to be used as wisely as possible.
I need to do this while the motivation is high.:)1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Good morning, all.
I just had an enlightened moment how to reduce DD2's unwanted gift bottles in the bathroom. I will use the shower gels as bubble bath, lol. Then the smell isn't that strong and they come to pleasant use! Small steps, hey....First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Morning all.
Yesterday, I decluttered a shopping trolley full of Stuff to the chazzer, which was one-third rags (I checked, and they do have a buyer for these) in a separate and clearly-labelled bag, and two-thirds good but unused clothes.
Then I visited a pal and she is going to take another item off my hands, that should go at some point this week.

Morning,
Finally managed to let go of my old work fleece, happy memories wrapped up in a worn, too big fleece with worn patches and finally a broken zip. After inspiration here, cut out the logo and sewed it on my blanket, and put the remains for rags. Was going to reuse the fleece to line a woolly hat, but I know where I used to work and its not to everyone's taste! Same for socks from student days, cut out the little miss lucky logo, ha ha, such irony. So, its gone, gone, gone.
Old text book in bag for charity shop, 2 old diaries burnt, didn't want anyone else to read them, then realised that some one would have to deal with when I croak, so best if I do it. Read a wee bit, and its from when my head was a right mess, feels good to be shot of them. Can't be good leaving those lying around.
Thanks again to all you chaps for sharing, its one thing to wave from the sidelines to others but when you are facing a pile of carp, its quite hard.0 -
I spent the weekend drifting around the house thinking, "Problem? What problem?" as mostly the downstairs is fairly clear now, then I needed something from the porch... people could have died under that lot & we'd never know! So that's this week's project; get it sorted & keep it sorted.
I have a clear vision now of how I'd like it to look, to work towards. But it does beg the question of where to keep things like the Hoovers and the raincoats, which (quite literally) don't have anywhere else to go. This house has very little storage space for larger items, since I turned the understair area into a little office, which was desperately needed too. Some kind of cupboard may be needed out there.Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Morning all
I'm just having 5 minutes while trying to decide on the best plan for the morning. I have until 11.20 to do as much as possible.
Luckily the bathroom and kitchen are virtually clutter free. More of a quick clean in there. Some decoration needed in the near future though.
The upstairs is upside down, especially DS bedroom which he has trashed. He seems to have decided to get out as much stuff as possible, put it into various bags and boxes and tell me its my birthday present, which is in October. Oh the MIDs of 3 year olds.
The front room is half chaotic. I made a good start yesterday but this needs to be continued.
Now the sitting room is chaos but could be sorted in an hour or two so I have decided to start there as it will make the biggest difference. Then any extra time can be spent on other rooms (I.e. DS's while he is out)
One thing I have found to keep myself motivated is to continue the sorting at work too. I'm lucky to have my own workshop so can do what I need in it without having to worry about disturbing others.
The garden soon.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Did manage a bit of sorting in the garden on Saturday - dead heading, cutting down dead stems & raking up twigs etc from the borders. DH was making me a cuppa & said the robin was following me round the garden - aaaah
Almost filled the 'green bag' ready for next week. We pay about £28.00 a year to have them emptied so I always try to make sure I have enough 'in waiting' IYKWIM to get my money's worth!
Clean up day upstairs today - just the usual hoovering & dusting & clean bathrooms and put all the clean washing away & load up the dirty stuff - if I can find anything to fling I will - ah well lets get on with it!
Have a good day allSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
One memory foam neck pillow - haven't used it in over a year and it doesn't deflate to be portable.
Make-up and an eyelash curler - threw the make-up away and cleaned the eyelash curler throwing away the used rubber bar. It came with two spares. That'll be clean enough to donate.
Eye make-up remover - three bottles down the toilet, bottles in the recycling for tomorrow
A large collection of shoe inserts and orthotics - now my needs have changed, I have yet another custom made pair of orthotics (for Morton's neuroma) and don't need the rest (plantar fasciitis).
One trashy romantic novel - read and can go.
Smug has completely gone now. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Just taken about 20 dead batteries from the kitchen drawer, bgged them off to go to the sm re-cycling. 10 jamjar lids that do not have jars, a bag for the Cs and a bag for the bin. Have collected all the Christmas wrapping paper into a long bag and that can go under the bed instead of sitting in the corner of the living room for a year.
Have one blanket finished ready to post and all my knitting and patchwork are now in wicker boxes next to my chair - looks lovely.
Have decided my craft stuff on the shelves looks tatty in various boxes and plastic tubs so have covered some cardboard boxes in wrapping paper and am sorting as I go. I think it will look much better if they fit the shelves neatly.
So far to go but am doing well.Clearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0
