  • They were very much involved in the process and made a sign for the front door and everything! The other stuff I have earmarked is from when i was childminding (i have a house full of toddler toys and my youngest is 6)
don't worry- a lot of my hoarding tendencies comes from similar issues with my mum chucking our toys as punishment so they are ALWAYS consulted :)

  • Yippee! I have a small window of time to do some more sorting/chucking today... not sure which bit of my master-plan to tackle next! We still have a large & unwanted chest of drawers stopping any further play in DS1's room, but there's plenty more to be getting on with.

But on the downside, we now appear to be hoarding cars. DS2 has acquired one of his own, and we can only fit two on the drive, and most of our neighbours already have to jockey for space out on the street... the driveway would be big enough for three, if OH would consent to the bins being moved (into a less-prominent position, which I'd actually prefer) but he's not budging. Yet...

One old, duck feather pillow, decluttered! I've bought some new, nicer, sheets for the spare bedroom and so the old ones can go.

I love the charity fibre bins you get these days. I can send stuff off to charity, even if it's quality is poor.

  • Quite a bit gone here, too; two sets of 3 properly-vintage bedspreads, 2 singles & a double in each case, put out on my stall, a boot-load taken to the Tip and a bag of blanket-quarters taken to the animal shelter for bedding; I'm using the striped edges to make rugs (yes, really) & really didn't need to hang onto the other bits! So, didn't have a lot of time, but I did manage to make a difference.

Mind you, there may just be a sewing table in the car... brought back from the Tip, mended & tarted up, straight back into the car & off to my other stall tomorrow, as the one I had down there sold over the weekend!

:) Came home from work then off to the chazzer with two donation bags which I readied yesterday. Big carrier bags, quite heavy, glad to get rid.

On the the greengrocer with several fruit punnets, washed out, which they will re-use, then into the 50p chazzer. Had considered last night that my winter coat wasn't doing me any favours and that I could replace it (it was a fiver from a chazer in 2011) if I could find a suitable replacement cheap-cheap.

 Hey, thriftwizard, does a classic D*nnimac trenchcoat with a satin and wool lining for 50p count as a bargain, or am I a monkey's uncle.....:rotfl:

Feeling pretty darned pleased with that, so the other coat can leave next time I'm heading up the road. One in, one out. Still have a bit of clothing-congestion at the homestead, with the balance of the stuff which came back from the pal's place on Sunday, but there are a few things in there which need a few stitches before they are donated, and a blouse which may suit me, I shall think on that.

Onwards! My next gift aid advisory letter should make interesting reading, I reckon.

GQ, that is most certainly a bargain, and a stylish one too! I'm still most aggrieved that my mother's D*nnimac swamped me - I can only assume that it was the only size available at the time, as she's quite tiny really.

Planning an assault on my wardrobe, too. It's all well & good trying to deal with the periphery, the centre's a disaster too. I'm keeping most of the clothes I actually wear on an ottoman full of bedding I never use, because I can't get to my drawers - there's a 15-tog duvet (deceased, if you ask me) scrumpled up in front of them! Can't decide what to chuck/Freecycle first - the duvet (His Nibs's, & he's not totally sure he's ready to part with it, although it can't be washed as the outer layer is "non-woven textile" i.e. posh paper. Long story...) half the contents of my drawers, as there's just Too Much Stuff in there, the unused bedding - all top quality stuff, would be sad to see it go but it can't stay in there any longer - the half-dead ottoman... it might be easier just to run away to sea & leave it all behind!

Spill something on the duvet thrifwizard... as you are reaching to put full mug of coffee/glass of red wine/open pot of paint on top of the drawers...

At the very least the duvet will then have to go outside :)

:) Yeah, but you'd need a 'sea chest' if you ran away to sea and wouldn't that ottoman be just the job?

I'm gosmacked over the D ---, it even fits and is very long, and long on a lanky wench like me is reaaaalllly long. I have often fancied a classic trenchcoat, not enough to actually buy one new, but the goddesses of seconhandia were smiling on me today.

:o I do have to say that I look rather swaggersome in it, and even had to wear it home from the shop. I am admiring the pearly pink gleam of the satiny part of its lining as we speak.

But the old coat, which is still very nice (and has a satin lining) will still go as this one suits me better and I don't need three long coats; I have a special black cashmere coat for extremely cold weather/ being posh. Last time I poshed across the city centre in it I got some interesting comments from a bunch of louts speculating as to what I was wearing under it.

Poor boys.............:rotfl:Such bad eyesight at such a young age, too.

  • ha ha loving the coat stories! I am decluttering the playroom today. we have an Ikea unit with loads of boxes in and they are just full of carp! No one ever plays with any of it cos its all just messed up. To be honest the boys only play electric stuff now and most of smalls stuff is in her room. I am going to go through all my dvds and zapper a load of them as I was looking for something to watch the other day and went through 5 drawers stuffed full and didn't want to watch ANY so they are OUT.
Im definitely feeling the decluttering at the mo so I need to crack on......
