GQ you talked about being move ready. That is such a great idea. However, it did make me chuckle and remember my move about 18 years ago.

I had done a pretty impressive job of de cluttering and organising everything for my new home - only to find that my mum had carted two very full black bags full of rubbish to my new home.

What made it even more frustrating was the fact that the vendors had filled the bin and left a pile of carp when they moved out.
:) A couple I know had a whole loft of carp left behind in the house they bought. When they contacted the former owner, he grandly told them that they could have his Stuff (carp). I'd've been tempted to deliver it to his new address and fly-tip it on his bliddy lawn.

Everyone I know who has black-sacked a duvet has lost one during the move, so hearing about rubbish sacks moving with you is a variant on the theme.

All moves are hellacious, each in their own special way.

Having suffered before from vendors leaving stuff behind, I made very clear (via my solicitor) that if I didn't get vacant possession I would be reversing the transfer of the money... House was empty (but filthy...). As I was already staying with a friend and my stuff was in storage I knew I had the flexibility to make good on the threat. As it was I spent the time removing the disgusting carpet, Lino, fitted wardrobes and kitchen units...

:( Dirty beggars. This same guy hadn't completed his move-out on the day the pals were moving in, which meant that their immaculate moving-in plan with its colour-coded room-by-room designations was useless. Took them a long time to get that straightened out and then they found the loft was full - grrr!

I'd've gone ballistic if it was my move.

Our vendors were emigrating & what they didn't take with them or sell they left.....:eek: even down to ends of make up left in the bathroom - yuk. Took us a week to clear the house after work before we could move.

Unhoarded some stilton ends from the fridge into soup - yum. My autumn soup stash is looking healthy. Got rid of another of DH's 'toys' on fleabay so will post that today & a small bag to the CS. Tidied up my ancestry docs into a box file - much neater & all together. Donated bags of apples to a freind and a neighbour.

  • Got rid of two items into the rubbish bin on the way to the office today.

I have bought more items - but they're storage type to help me organize. Fingers crossed.

Since the boiler broke - twice in one week (luckily on service contract), I had to clear part of the kitchen.

Still don't want to touch/clean where the mouse/mice have been. Gotta work on that issue. Its not going to get cleared until I do.

Just got to declutter my son's room of teddies. Tell me do those of you with 10 year old boys have a room full of teddies and skylanders?

Sorry to tell you, i have a strapping 6' 15 year old boy with a room full of teddies, toy trains and "baby" books that he won't let me remove. He would die of embarrassment if a friend saw it all, but i can't even store it somewhere.

I am rather afraid that, even after DD goes away in a few weeks, there will still be an awful lot of stuff left - including many stuffed toys and dolls and sooooo many books.

A few weeks ago I emptied two draws of a sideboard into a big jute bag because I wanted to paint the sideboard. Until yesterday I ignored the bag, looking at it and pretending it was invisible. The bag is now empty and the contents put away in the correct place, donated or binned.

Only another 5 jutes bags to sort.

    Well done parsniphead.

I got a photo of a young child using something of DD's that we had given to them. Such a cutie - it made my day.

    Hello and good morning, all!
Back in the routine of managing an unmanageable country household (only a cottage, didn't mean to sound grand ;) )
DD2 is now too stressed with school work to help with animal duties :( so more work fallen back to me.
But when at my laptop I'm slowly going through my cd collection which includes so many my friend gave me over the years and I never got round to listening to. Now I put what I like on my ipod (inherited from DD1) and either put the ones for keep in the appropriate cupboard, copies in the car and some cds I don't like go in the CS bag. I found that I have 2 valuables in there so will find out which is the best way to flog them, yippieh. When I'm done with cds I will need a cassette converter to shift those old tapes!

I have great news on the teddies front from my son't room. My daughter (DD2-the one going to Uni) was looking after him yesterday. She decided that it was time that they sorted his room so she told him he could keep only 3 teddies unless he really felt the need to hoard some.

When I came home his room was spotless and pretty empty. In fact, when he went to bed he got in - sighed- and then said ooh this is perfect.

I just need the other daughter to take the hint and sort her room. She has a stress if anyone goes into her room to sort it. Ah well 3 out of 4 aint bad.

Thanks again for all your help.

My plans for the next few weeks are to declutter the awful 1970s wardrobes in DD2s room. Get other half to rewire and plaster the walls and ceiling. If Pigpen can refurb then so can I (you are my heroine!):o

I will update you (even if you don't want me to):D
