Well I've come to a stop with my clearing out :( I've lost my mojo among all the clutter:o:(

Saying that, I have one of those plastic storage towers with 6 drawers in it. Over the past 2 days I@ve now got 2 empty drawers so I'm not too bad. Will go up later on and maybe see about emptying another one. I find things like that easier to do when I'm watching TV, stick it on then just start sorting. It's like a timer I think lol.

Went into the CS to have a look around today and bought 3 books that I already have, and I knew I did when buying them but there was a reason lol.
I have these books in large paperback, but the rest of the series of books I have is in small paperback. So I saw these 3 and they were £1.00 each so I can now get rid of the big paperbacks, freeing up some more space for me.

Think I'll go upstairs now actually and try and get 2 more of those drawers cleared out. Kids are at the Youth Club tonight and LOs are settled enough here.

:) Well, came home from work, folded up the things which were laundered and pressed yestereve, and went to Hoxfam with 4 bags of donations. There are some more bits and bobs from the clear-out at Mum's over the weekend but that was all I could carry in one go.

Managed to escape the fatal allure of the whole street of chazzers and just came home. I also craved fish and chips but as I had defrosted something homecooked from the freezer overnight, plus had left-overs to eat with it, I restrained myself.

I may succumb tomorrow, if I feel weak-willed, but I'll fight that bridge when I come to it, sez a wumman who likes a mixed metaphor.:p

Am forging on through a library book and have decided on a new strategy for getting through the back-log of non-fiction books; I shall allow myself one fiction library book read for every one off the shelf, which shall then go back to the chazzer. I like to read non-fiction some of the time but I feel the need to leaven it with some fluffy fiction as purely entertainment, too.

Home isn't looking too bad as I am mostly rounding up the stuff as I go, and trying to go to bed caught up with the dishes, and ditto before going to work. Makes life less aggravating when you get home all weary and don't have to cope with the crud.

Anyone else feeling positively twitchy when others try to give them something? Or am I just an odd-bod? Don't answer all in a rush, pls.

Oh, and I decluttered a birthday card from the tin into the post today for a friend, so that's a tiny bit less paper on the premises today.

Oh, and one of the things I could have bought at the chazzer was a book on decluttering; I guess it had either worked its magic in the owner's home or they were so lost under the clutter they just had to get rid of it. I made sure I didn't even look inside it, even though it wasn't a title I had read before, in case I was tempted.:rotfl:

I used up the last of the paint today and put it out for recycling. Wonders will never cease.

  • Well managed to declutter an old in gd work order electric convector radiator thing today. Got a fiver, but at least that's one less thing in the other corner of the room I have to look at.
Got another little electric fire as well advertised but if that don't go I can always use it for decoration in the dinning room.if it goes it goes. But I can make use out of it if it doesn't.

Is it me or has the weather started getting colder now. I have this thing where my legs hurt when I'm cold and that's been happening the last couple of nights. Was hoping wecwere going to have decent weather until at least October as I'm going to need till then at least to get the money together for my oil.
Considered doing dd with the company I use but they wanted 60 a month off me, and I can barely get the 30 I plan on putting away for it. some months I have to miss putting it away all together witch is annoying but I got this terrible habit called eating and I have to buy food instead lol.

:Danirtak! Fancy needing to feed yourselves when the utility company 'needs' your dosh. Have you no sense of priorities, woman? :rotfl:

Yes, even southern England was decidedly parky last night. In a way I like it (am an autumn baby, am fond of the season) as I can sleep better when its cool, was suffering a bit in July. But it does seem that the season is about 4 weeks' in advance of where it should be, in terms of crops ripening and the temperature cooling.

Augusts like this aren't at all unknown. I was once camping in Essex on August BH weekend and we were shivering in our tent and when we stuck our nose out of doors there was a heavy white frost. The grass actually crunched underfoot! By 10 am it was scorching, tho.

Will be working today (boo, hiss) and depending on how much energy that leaves me and what the weather is going, I may saddle up the pushbike and swing by the allotment for some veggies and some weeding. Haven't seen it for 10 days or so but someone who works with me and lives nearby was complimenting my onions yesterday.

I have something to get off the allotment and down to the tip which I had postponed dealing with as my bike was out of action and I could see myself with pulled muscles if I carried it down there, so will try to get that crossed off the list.

Other than that, it's maintenance and deep cogitation about a few of the high-hanging fruit which I need to consider.

Keep chiselling away at it, lovely peeps and well done to Silvasava for her £40 fleabaying haul, may your other items go lucratively also.

good grief you've all been busy:D

back from camping, clothes and gear all washed and gear all repacked for storage, the camping storage corner in the loft has been hoovered (get me!) and the majority of the gear placed up there in a structured way. few bits to finish tonight.

a couple of camping items thrown, a couple earmarked for cs as not in use by me anymore.

[STRIKE]hooves[/STRIKE] toenails cut. decided yesterday morning whilst wrestling socks on that they had to be done that evening before I was inadvertently mistaken for a zoo escapee and/or punctured through the toes of my shoes. heart sank - I have a pair of strong scissors specially made for the purpose that are supposed to live in a jar in the medicines cupboard but tend to wander. came home and guess where they were? in the place where they are supposed to be - yes dear reader it's an actual decluttering miracle.

slowly plodding on - I need a cs trip soon as the 9th square by the door will soon become a barricade if the stuff isn't shifted.

good news is that incomings should be very limited until christmas now as birthdays/end of terms/easter/visits to family/hollidays are over and these are the big times when torrents of stuff avalanches through the door out of my control.

glass jars: I've made a decision to keep them - don't gasp, I am replacing my plastic cheapo tupperware-type storage items with glass. I have all manner of plastic storage that I don't use as I don't like them and some I do use but still don't like and others that could be pressed into service if I could find their lids; they perish, I find them difficult to wash and take forever to dry and they are always are always made out of the same magnetic pole as their lids and therefore repel them in storage......

So ingredients and foodstuffs are being moved over to glass as are all manner of other containers of the cheaper plastic for regular use. Some plastic will be retained for dd's packed lunches but I'm a grown-up and can handle storing things in glass without danger.
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)

Sorry I have a thing about feet and it was too early in the morning. I can barely deal with my own feet. I'm sure you have lovely feet lobbyludd.;)

I'm stuck here today waiting for the community transport people to come and collect the snooker table. I shan't be sorry to see it go, the ugly great lump. I can't believe the difference in the room with it out and it echos.

Some more painting again today to be finished for when the carpet fitters come tomorrow. I will soon have a proper de-hoarded, grown up room.:)

    Morning All :hello:

Spent most of yesterday ferrying DS2 around (he came out of hospital a few weeks ago & is not allowed to drive yet) While I was waiting in the car while he saw some clients I decluttered my car, purse & handbag
All the old tissues, car park tickets, receipts GONE & found a little tin of car sweeties so i rewarded my self with one (honest, just one) As the temperature had dropped also decluttered some beef casserole from the freezer :)
GQ - well done on resisting the book - I had a little picture of you walking out very self righteously (sp?) mentally repeating Get thee behind me Satan - haha

Little by little I'm getting rid of the 'treasures' I've stockpiled over the years that are neither use not ornament to me now. I'm not looking for a pristine minimalist home just one that hasn't got 'stuff' stashed & at the back of my mind is that I don't want my sons to have to deal with mountains of accumulated stuff that has no meaning to them whatever when I pop my clogs.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

no - all feet are horrible, except for babies feet -, and a friend who has brittle bone disease and has never walked on his feet, they are lovely too despite being that of an adult male.

Sorry - should have prefaced with a warning, far to early in a morning!!
