gq my husbands bike is the big thing in the way otherwise i could do what you have suggested but unfortunately with the way he has it in there that has to be moved out for me to get at anything, thast why i was thinking he can lugg it all out for me then i can quite easily either stand there and sy what pile to put it in or sort through it once its empty.
probably be easier telling him what pile to put it in as he brings it out, just got to get him onside to do it
should take long with 2 of us doing it.
i got an old set of office filing cabinet draws in there witch are sposed to be used for storing little things, if i had thought when i first had the letter about the skip i could have sorted the shed out and maybe taken that down to it, or at least tried, hubby was in work so would have had to have done it on my own. its too big to fit in the car so the tips not an option unless the guy that used to do tips runs still does them. will ask him next time i see him, not sure when that will be.
well apart form the couple of last minute bits i gotta do in the morning my bags are packed and got nothing else to do tonight so gonna try and have an early night if i can.0 -
Morning all.
anirtak, freegle or freecycle, whichever operates in your area, could likely see the filing cabinet go walkies for you. They're handy mouse-proof storage for outbuildings and someone would be glad of them.
thriftwizard, really wincing at the losses to moths and mice, am a lover of fabrics and have seen that pan out IRL, it hurts. Hopefully the porch/ conservatory won't be too much of a hell-hole this time, I know you achieved wonders before. Although I know all to clearly how these places can revert at the drop of a hat, too.
I was a bit slack last night and didn't do the dishes (playing online then reading a book before bedtime) but nixed most of them before the kettle boiled this morning. Isn't it amazing how tiny kitchens get in a state with only a few bits and bobs lying around the place?
Today is work and then some errands. I'm feeling pretty pooped this week but would like to get the sewing project which belongs at Mum & Dad's done, will just have to gird my loins and get on with it. The problem is that it's big (a bedsheet) and I have such a tiny amount of space. Think the only way I'll be able to work it out will be to use my bed as a place to spread it out for pinning. Still, if I can get it done before Saturday, it can go back where it belongs and that's one less piece of clutter in my life.
Righty, tea and brekkie, then off to the h'office to help people do stuff, mend stuff, find stuff etc etc. Have a good one, my lovelies, GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Can hardly move this morning; I'm stiff & ache all over, and feel like I've done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson rather than battle with a few boxes of surplus stuff! Also feel as if I've had just half an hour's sleep...
Interesting that Him Indoors wasn't at all supportive, for all he's moaned incessantly about the rubbish cluttering up "his" garage. I do understand his dismay at a small proportion of it coming back inside the house, but what he actually seemed to be upset about was how much I'd spent on the stuff that got thrown away. The answer to that was virtually nothing; when I opened the shop, every quilter & cross-stitcher within a 20 mile radius "helpfully" de-stashed their excess fabric to me, bless them, for the classes. It was wonderfully kind, but also quite overwhelming; I felt obliged to try to use it all, although about 90% of it was stuff I'd never have chosen! So part of me isn't at all grieved to see it go, just sad I didn't pass it on for someone else to use.
Can only put in a half-day today as I have to go & check up on the elderlies 26 miles away. So, on with the porch! The kids are starting to move stuff back in at the weekend (we've had two weeks notice, only firmed up this Tuesday) so I really don't have much time to get to grips with it, and I need to keep track of any of my summer stock that has to be moved. 2 ebay items being posted today, they aren't big but they are going!
I aim to get some more stuff listed later on.. I have an aim.. £6000 .. because I am crazy! I want to pay off my solar panels ASAP so my home budget is staying the same, I need £140 in my bank each month to cover the DD and the rest can sit in my paypal until I have enough to pay it off in full.. it is interest free so no massive hurry but I have other things to do about the house to make it habitable and having this as an incentive to sell stuff does help!!
Might need to update the siggy to include it.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

I finally have something positive to report after a pretty grotty few weeks in chez JAT. Its not much, but its progress
Finally got rubbish and recycling out today. That may not sound much, but upstairs have been taking all the space in the bins and they get a lie-in as the bin men come on the property and get the bags - probably not meant to, but a nice perk. Since there's no room for mine and every fox in the neighbourhood knows what night is dinner night, its not worth putting them out the previous evening. The bin men also arrive at least an hour before I have to be up, so its either no rubbish / recycling put out or a horrendously early morning. Usually preceded by not sleeping much as I'm worried I'll miss the truck.
However, this week I got rid of one bag of rubbish and three bags of recycling (plus another full recycling box). Yippee!! They probably think I'm a right old drinker - but honestly, its just the recycling hasn't gone out since about Christmas.
Still got lots (and lots) to do, but its a start0 -
:T Well done, JAT. Sometimes just getting the rubbish and recycling out is a major acheivement. I know what you mean about people hogging the bins, I was once livid to find that our communal bins were full of cut-up old carpets, leaving no room for the rest of us to put our own rubbish. I even rang up about it, they told me that carpet is allowed in the household waste bins, but it seems darned selfish when one household hogs all the bliddy bins one week.
I have just finished my sewing project. Didn't feel like doing it but wanted it done, so got over the luxury of CBA-ness and just did it. I have now officially created Frankensheet, a bedsheet reconstructed from the best bits of two others. Back to Mum's soon. Oooops. Porch still untouched... didn't get back from The Seniors' until 5pm which was time to start cooking the supper. Then the phone rang, with a major piece of happiness-inducing news (to do with one of the kids & their creative efforts; one's won a contract for something big. Proud Mama moment!) since when I've been floating about on Cloud 9. Off to try & conquer - even just one box! Better than nothing - now...Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Havent posted for a few weeks but have kept up the momentum. Very little has come in but lots has gone out. Every time I go to Mr T I take a bag to the Cs and I have been rooting out things I really dont need. I freecycled, e bayed and generally got rid.
I also started work on the empty bit of back garden which re-appeared when the new fences went up. Gave myself a budget of £20 for that and so far am doing well. Im mainly using perennials so it wont look finished till next year but thats fine its a WIP not instant non O/S gardening. Any fool can spend huge amounts of cash on things that will fade. I am also using things from the house to make decorations for it and that takes more stuff out.
I have now given myself a month to sort out the living room ready for Oh's 60th birthday when he has decided the family is all coming over for a buffet  - oh well I love a challenge!Clearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0
