it's not raining so another day in the garden today. maybe have a fire in the incinerator, does that count as tidying? We'll get the plasterer in to fix things the window fitters messed up -another excuse to wait with the spring clean ...First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

I put in a load of washing and unpacked the dishwasher.
DD's easter present from granny came in a big (preloved) Crabtree & Evelyn bag. This will be absolutely perfect to gather up the new and secondhand books I am acquiring for my mother. At the moment they are in at least two different places and I have no idea how many I have. The new ones have been bought at less than £2 each from amazon etc when I have been buying other stuff, so I need to check how close to budget I am.
Replacing DS' duvet so the old one is already in the kitchen to be taken when DH graces us with his presence. It's a rare opportunity for a lie in. I can't sleep though.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Good Morning
I've tried to go solo but it doesn't work for me - I need the inspiration and encouragement that this thread gives me. Luckily I haven't waited until I'm back at Square One to hasten back to the fold... I have no desire to go back to CHAOS.... but old habits are starting to creep back in
However, for those of you who know me of old, I have a letter from the HA saying there has been no breach of tenancy agreement as the house is tidy and undamaged :T. (It never was damaged!!! and thanks to this thread it is tidy; but I do have mountains of stuff to sort throughin the smallest bedroom, and the cupboard under the stairs.)
DS is home from Uni for Easter and has a habit of hogging the lappie - well it is his! - but I need to get back on the wagon, and I'll report in when I can.
Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter Monday.

Nice to 'see' you again, roundtuit, and well done on getting the all-clear letter from the housing association.
I have been to a carboot sale this morning and have spent a few pounds; pair curtains £4, paperback 25p, candle 20p and 2 small tins for 20p.
The curtains are in the washer and will be dried here on the outside line at Mum & Dad's place then taken back to my flat tonight. The book will be read and then charity-shopped, the candle is to use. The candle came in a tray-type holder which I had no want nor need for, so I left it with the seller. Saves me charity-shopping it later. A bit of clutter which doesn't cross the threshold is a bit of clutter you don't have to deal with later.
The curtains are to replace the getting-threadbare ones in my living room. Gosh, but I paid £2.50 for those in 2005 and am having to replace them in 2014..........I'm shocked I tell you, shocked!
This afternoon, I plan to wash my hair with the shampoo-dreg and then that bottle can go into the recycling bin. I may have also tidied up a wine bottle that had bee lurking in the fridge, opened, since at least lunchtime that day.:p
Mum was looking for some cotton pillowcases at the booter without success but I offered her some from my home which aren't presently in use, so that will that sorted when next our paths cross at my flat or I'm back here. Shedding, shedding, shedding........
Have also learned that there was another item which could have gone to the scrappie on Saturday from the shed, and been replaced from Sunday's bootsale, had Minimalist Dad not waited until this morning to mention the need. Grrr! Never mind, a snapped scythette blade isn't the biggest bit of kipple on the premises by a long shot.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Plan for today is scarey
We had planned on getting the train out for the day taking the kids to Portrush, however there was no getting our kids up at the right time this morning!:rotfl: SO that plan has been put off until tomorrow or Wednesday. Might have been aswell as everywhere would have been packed today.
Anyhow, since we're not going anywhere now, myself and DH have decided to empty our room completely and re-arrange the bed etc, for a change of scenery lol. Means I can get the whole room cleaned and skirting washed, some hasn't seen the light of day in a few years:eek:
Our only problem is, where we want to move the bed to, we're not sure it will actually fit, so I can see the two of us sleeping on the floor for the foreseeable future if we give up trying lol.
The weather has taken a turn for the worse here so it's giving me the push to do it today instead of sitting outside doing nothing:oPay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
We have DGs's birthday party later at a kiddies play centre - bargain deal and no cleaning upto do. Mum is coming down for it and staying here the night. Pleased to report spare room is tidy and ready for her. Just have to vaccuum the living room and the house is as ready as it ever will be. Usually its a mojor task wehn she comes to stay but the hard work the last few months has paid off.
Latest item put on fleabay - one of hubbys collectables is going great guns and should pay for a short break away soon. One less thing cluttering up the house.Clearing the junk to travel light

hello RT
beautiful day here again after thunder storms and rain and greyness yesterday, which I am glad about now, as it was not setting in for the duration.
I am on day 5 of 11 whole days off from work, which was unplanned but easter childcare failed at short notice so our family holiday is now and is largely a "staycation" due to no funds. I am wonderfully chilled, mostly because the sun has given me some glorious days of pottering about, the kids are happy and I am clearly very uplifted by sunshine
boot is getting loaded up with CS stuff for a run tomorrow, am contemplating getting rid of the shoe cupboard under the stairs - I've never liked it, and in fact that is the decision made, I'll cull the kids shoes in there and get rid of the dust magnet.
bulbs/seeds/ginger root/chitted pots/seedlings to plant out today which will free up a few window sills.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
After doing so much on Friday I was too knackered to do much at all Saturday and yesterday. My mojo's come back today though.
Happily the weather forecast lied and it's not raining so I've got two loads of washing out on the line. I've been through one of my bookcases and culled a few books, and been very ruthless with the clothes that I've already got washed and dried this weekend. I'm also going to go through a drawer of bedding, and some laundry storage bags of clothes that I put away last summer and have a good cull.
Although I'm debating what to do with it all. I think I'm reaching the amount of stuff where a boot sale will be worthwhile, and there's one nearby on a Sunday afternoon which is better for me than a morning one, although I'm not sure about doing one on my own. I've nothing to do the following week though so I can take it easy and rest up afterwards.
Pitches are £12, and I'd need to buy a paste table for a tenner. So I'd need to sell at least 48 items at 50p each just to break even.
I do have a few items that would sell for more than that, or I'd hope so. A leather biker jacket (proper leather biker jacket, not a fashion one), which I'd hope to get £25-30 for, a couple of pairs of doc martens shoes that I'd hope for £5-10 for, and some monsoon skirts that I'd hope for £3ish. I don't know if those prices are too high for a car boot though, or if I'd be better off sticking those things on ebay and taking all the 'filler' items to the CS.
I think I'll go to the car boot next week and see what it's like, with a view to taking a stall the weekend after. Unless anyone has any thoughts otherwise?
I've also decided to finish all my little craft projects with the aim of doing a craft fair in September/October. There's lots of mug hugs and knitted stuff, so they're not going to sell well through summer, and it'll give me time to build up stock of little things, and go through my stuff for cards etc that I made years ago and shoved away in the drawer of doom. I always find I can't concentrate if I sit down to just watch TV, and doing crafts is far more productive than playing sudoku on my phone! Again though, stalls seem to be £40-50, which means I need a lot of items to sell just to break even.
Hmm...Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
I am glad too that today turned out sunny, so have done some washing of sheets etc and it's all on the line.
All the recycling has gone to the recycling centre. Confidential paperwork has been burnt.
We also popped to see aunty and took a bootload and back seat load to recycling for her. Managed to get my mum in a strop so that was the least productive part of the day.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Ames.. what size jacket and DM's and skirts ?? I may be a buyer
Otherwise try local FB selling pages first then take stuff to crap-boot .. Ebay is absolutely not worth the hassle unless it is a 'vintage' jacket the chances of you getting more than £5 or so are very slimLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
