Just about copes with all the different types of tea when I have a house full!
    :cool: You could have one of these instead;

That's off a website called https://www.teaurn.net. Get that boiling water all in one place, hand your guests a drinking receptacle and their choice of leaves or bags and get them to form an orderly line.

Four teapots out - one urn in, gotta make sense, right?

    I'll get me coat.:p

  • We have two teapots. One is Grandma's lovely blue pot with silver flowers. The other came with the massive amount of blue and white stuff from Mum's house. It was one of about four. Then there were the two coffee pots. In the end, I decided that we could have one teapot for tea and the other for hot water. The rest could go.

What I don't understand is why one couldn't use a large teapot for a small amount of tea. Surely one would only fill it half way? We have done this we some success.

Anyway, I would keep the yellow teapot, GQ, if you have to use a small one. It sounds cheerful.

I'm afraid stuff is coming in to our house at the moment. A dear friend is emigrating, so she is giving stuff away left right and centre. I now have even more jam jars and some jam sugar.

Never mind, 'Tis but a season. Keep going everyone, lurkers too!

    :) Morning all.

Now, I have the steel teapot on trial and will go with that for a week and then decide if the broken-lidded yellow one stays or goes. Decisions, decisions.............

Have just finished my insurance paperwork and have sourced a large envelope from the small folder where I keep those things for re-use. This envelope, funnily enough, was part of a previous decluttering project, but being a C5 manilla, unused, I reckoned it would be useful, and so it has proved.

I don't do much snail-mail, but when I do, I aim to use pre-loved envelopes.

Current plans will involve culling some belongings into a donation bag and whizzing them down to the chazzer after work. Strike whilst the iron is hot, the resolve steely (possibly even stainless steely ;)) etc etc.

Now I shall just read some minimalism website (I am rationing myself to only 5 on the Bookmarks as it had got a bit out of control) and re-inforce my new values; Less is More.

Keep on chipping away at, lovely peeps. GQ xx

  • Hello
I have a day off and a huge number of jobs to get through, first one being removed all the "stuff" from my bed and change the sheets. am currently sleeping with assorted paperwork and phone and books and washing (clean but not put away) and so on. I have 2 books to read one by tomorrow. I managed to clear several bags out a week ago but that involved taking things from cupboards and that is what is currently on the side of the bed not slept on. I need to clean out before returning. How does dust get inside cupboards? Mine are thick with it.

I think the Cs abstinence is a great idea, it gives us permission from ourselves not to buy - IYKWIM. Donated 4 books yesterday and posted 2 parcels. Have found a charity that can use my hand made cards so will post some off there next week. I have cleared the worksurface next to the sink and am determined to keep it clear, everything and nothing ends up plomked there

Ds is having sky fitted soon and as I referred him I will get £100 in Tosco vouchers so am emptying the freezer and will be filling it with meat. That means I can throw away all the plastic tubs as they come out of there, they get brittle and start cracking anyway.

Off to parcel up some more crafty goodness and get it out of the house, plus have nearly finished a large throw I was making for a friend so that can go very soon and thats another bag of yarn used up.

Going to pick up a carrier bag and walk round the house filling it with bits of rubbish and things that are no use - wish me luck :D

Today I woke up feeling incredibly guilty about my lack of progress for the last week or so. So far I have already made headway in a number of areas and still only 10 am. Damn these stupidly early starts are handy for me.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
  • I have washing on the line and several windows open.. I think only you guys will understand how good that makes me feel.

    It's very springlike today. :)

I had a late start (eye test in town) so managed to get a small bag of bits for charity together and dropped it off on my way in.

Progress is small but consistent. I'm building up to the start of the 40 bags challenge.

I was thinking of creating a 40 bags in 40 days challenge page on Facebook (the main one is American) - is this something other people would be interested in joining if I did? Conscious that I don't want to out myself if I'll be the only member. :o
"Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."
  • I have a bed. Stripped of covers and mattress protector which is in the wash and shortly will be blowing in the wind. Have vaccumed bottom of wardrobe and around bed. Unfortunately stuff from bed now in piles on floor but still, pleased with progress. Have chucked various bits of rubbish and a few old clothes for rag bag, but need to be much more strict. Have found old bag - denim was going to charity shop but it's not good enough. Can I put it in the rag bag? Need to get on but running out of steam. Want to sleep. This is exhausting.

:T My goodness, this mild sunny day is putting some pep in old stylers and people IRL seem to be feeling the love, as well. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the amount of donations to c.s. and visits to the tip picked up this weekend.

I came home and had an unexpected visit from a neighbour which held up a bit (but in a nice way) but then got out the flan dish, the big Pyrex butter dish and then was rummaging in the chest-of-drawers in the bedroom for a small evening bag I knew was in there somewhere and decided to let go.

Anyway, couldn't find it in any of the 5 drawers without emptying them all onto the bed, grabbed it and added it to the c.s. bag then dropped my eye on something else bought on a whim and never used, so whizzed that off to Hoxfam as well, all gift-aided so should get another 25% from the grubbyment once sold. And I managed not to buy a single thing whilst I was out, although I did chat with one c.s. manager and also to my Magic Greengrocer.

:o My chest-of-drawers was semi-blocked by another piece of furniture until 2 weeks or so ago, when I rearranged the bedroom. This meant that I could only open each drawer about 3 inches and slide a few smallish things in and out. Which meant that, to all intents and purposes, I was keeping the clothes I was using on the hanging rail and in the airing cupboard and using the same-old same-old all the time.

Now that I've had to turf them out onto the bed, I can put them back in a considered and orderly way and decide if they are all keepers. I've taken one top to the c.s. today but that was something I bought for 50p for a particular 'do' several months back, wore and never intended to keep anyway, so that should have been re-homed as soon as it was washed, but hey-ho, better late than never.

I also found a swimming cozzie whose elastic had gone all crunchy so have binned that. I don't swim much and I have another cozzie I can use if necessary.

Oh, but I feel on a roll. And excellent work, procrastinator, you'll sleep like a babe in your freshly-laundered bedlinen.

;) I added another minimalism website to my Bookmarks. But I did delete one as well, so that's not hoarding, is it?

    Forward!
