Sorting the craft mountain out, 2 boxes of bits re-cycled today. Made a dint and means I can see better what I have now. Feel better for doing it too, was stuck - 'sorters block' I guess but am back on track.
Keep looking at a set of classic books which look very pretty but have never read and have no intention of doing so they are going to the CS.
Bathroom now only has necessary 1 shampoo, I bath foam and baby bath which I use for everything. Do have a stock of baby bath in a cupboard in the kitchen but that saves me money in the long run as I bought it at 9p a bottle. Worksurface in kitchen clear again.

Hadn't though of Freecycle since my local one is fairly dodgy! But I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and taking as much as I can to the charity that will take them and just take the hit on the petrol.
We do get the occasional charity bag through the door but all too often they never come to collect, which I find very annoying.
I also have a toiletry list as I'm on the 'no buying unnecessary toiletries group' and after the initial faff of putting it together it's reinvented the way I look at my things. I have well over 200 items but not at least I know where and what they are.
Think I might have a go at doing a clothing list after my exam the week after next (eek). I too have so many pairs of shoes, some of which have been unworn for almost a decade as they were 'too pretty', and I need the space. At least they will have good resale value.
Fascinated at how a Freecycle group can be 'dodgy'! Tell me more!
A local hospice puts bags through the door regularly and if they collect one from you they put a card through the door to say thank you. I think it's a really nice idea - you know that the goods have gone where you want them to go and it's just nice for them to say thank you!
I'm also on the 'no toiletries' list so we've probably 'met' on there too.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
Evening all.
I'm amusing myself by being a bit Blue Peter-ish with scissors and sellotape and cutting down a small shoebox to make a much smaller lidded box to fit inside one of the cubbyholes on my pooter desk. This will allow me to corrall the floating items in there.
I'm going to make it a lid and cover both with paper from the very small giftwap stash. This will mean I've turned something which was getting in the way (the shoebox) into something I want and need without spending money or bringing more stuff into the home.
I foraged in a few c.s. this afternoon and bought two things into the home (at 50p each) which was a tunic like top and a proper Tubbyware of a size I really needed. I also uncovered something (see-thru pencil case) in the small shoebox which I'd forgotten about and which will serve another purpose which I have in mind.
I like the idea of remaking stuff I already own into something more suitable for my purposes. I've also started another recycled Pr*ngle tube candle project as I currently have 3 tubes (and one at w*rk). I salvaged them from Crimble nibbles after the contents were gone, which means a little less lardiness on my frame.;)
Spoke to Dad tonight about the book I'm finishing off (on The Black Death, we have weird interests) and he sounds enthused about having it, have said to give it to kid bruv the online bookseller when he's finished with it, don't need it back here.
Mum has also admitted that she will have to spend all of Sunday dehoarding a bedroom so that the new TV can be delivered and set up in there on Monday. What a soul-destroying task. This bedroom is like one of those you see on the telly; rammed floor to ceiling, mainly with books. Sort of a vandalised book depository with a bed in the middle of it. I just looked at it occasionally and had an attack of the vapours - rather her than me.
Righty, gotta finish the cuppa, get the lid made to fit the box then it's time for the artistic bit with the pretty papers.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Apologies in advance for further unusual weather occurrences, particularly over the southern counties. Do not be surprised if purple snow & a green sun should appear, for I must have evoked some disturbance in the spatial time continuum at the very least
Wednesday afternoon, during muvva's nap, I did go forth into The Pit of Despair & wrought order from the chaos, and it was good.
Thursday afternoon, during muvva's nap, I did return to The Pit, and did set about The Demon with broom & dustpan, and did labour till The Carpet was cleansed, and it was good.
Friday, before taking muvva shopping, I did gather the spoils of my labours & did condemn them with great force, to the Tomb of Re Syckle, and it was good
To clarify; I got rid of all those bits of print that I had put to one side to 'read later', from the spare room at muvva's.. feels good dunttitFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

I've been buying my daughter silver charms one on each birthday (she's 5) to give to her sometime when I know she won't lose a charm bracelet (many years yet!) - the boxes (SO MUCH PACKAGING! - a plastic sealy bag holding the charm, inside a faux velvet bag, inside a thin cardboard pouch, inside a larger faux velvet pouch, inside a box filled with shredded paper!) for each tiny wee charm, have been taking up half the shelf inside my wardrobe - they have now been condensed into one box
I was going to take the christmas tree down today - I'm not one for worrying about it being gone by 12th night, any time up to beltane is fine by mebut it's a fine crisp day, and the sun is streaming in catching the beautiful glass ornaments and it looks beautiful. SO it's had a reprieve, as soon as the rain starts (which it will very soon) I'll do it then.
today's mission is to attempt to get the remainder of the kid's christmas presents into their rooms. I have got 5 large cardboard boxes in the hall to be recycled and will potter about today. I've spent every night this week trying to get the children used to a new bedtime routine, which seems to be paying off, but its been hard work, as has actual work, so today is going to be restful. keep on at it folks:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Excellent Big Mumma  you are a brave and hardy woman but you should have warned us so we could send out a search party if you hadnt returned :rotfl:Clearing the junk to travel light

My job for today is to clear a path to the airing cupboard and put away the towels and bedding that have been sitting in a basket in the kitchen for months. I did get a lot of junk out of the bedroom a few months back but it's in a mess again - although luckily not as bad as it was - and I need to nip it in the bud.
The one big job I did do last year was to clear the spare room and it was actually the tidiest room in the house for a while (although that's not saying much!) There was still 'stuff' in there but it was in much better order. However, it's getting a bit messy again in there so I need to have another go at it. Some of the boxed stuff needs going through again and I need to put like with like and see if there's anything else that I left the first time around but really needs to go.
See you on the other side!3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
Whoo, BigMummaF, that was a postitively-Biblical effort and you hath done well, my child. :A
Congratters to the others as well. I am taking a breather from tidying up. Well, a breather and a cuppa and a pkt of chocolate fingers. I can now see patches of tabletop between the carp. Doesn't look like much has been done but it took quite a lot of sorting to get that far.
Every piece of paper needed to be examined, which resulted in a couple of filings, a fistful of sheddings and a WTH?! moment or two.
As it's got out sunny and I'd found some foriegn coins and a banknote also from Forn Parts, I headed out to the small bureau de change nearby and came out nearly £14 to the good.
If only tidying up always had a financial incentive.........:rotfl:
Have also thoroughly-cleaned and Milton'd the new 50p Tubbyware box I got yeaterday. I have a very bad habit of dumping new purchases still in their bags on the floor and leaving them. Where fresh produce has been involved, this has ended in tears before now. Or at least fruit fly infestations, lol.:o
Will be going to the allotmentino within the hour and will take back the tattie sack and will consider toting a chunk of concrete (not huge) to the tip on the way back. I dug it up last month. Can't think of a use for it and they tend to harbour slugs and snails if left on the surface, so better get it to the rubble section of the tip. Mebbe it will go somewhere and be reborn as hard core. If I can steel my nerves, I may even take the nearly whole brick I dug up two months ago.
Onward, upwards and outwards, my lovelies. We have nothing to lose but our (insert clutter group of choice). GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Morning all, there is a very strange thing in the sky here...it's bright and seems to resemble the mythical sun of which I have heard. The trouble is the back of our house faces south and the glass doors and the windows now look awful!
So....I'm just finishing my coffee and I'm going to clean a couple of sets of doors and windows.....
THEN.....I am going to attach the big built in cupboard in the kitchen. We moved into Dad's house to be nearer to him and to provide care and this is probably the last cupboard that I haven't managed to sort. He's away at the moment so now is the time, hopefully when he comes back he won't remember what was in there anyway......It, as with most of mine is rammed full of stuff that we never use so we can't use it for things that we do need to put away
If I'm not back by 6pm please send out the search party!
Happy de-hoarding!Piglet
