I can't do car boots - we don't have a car. I will look into using Facebook - thanks.

I'm late to the party, been MIA for a while. I would just say to be very careful when using facebook selling groups - a lot of scammers and timewasters on my local one. Despite trying to sell a few things I've had no luck so far - every one a non-show! I have bought a few things myself though and it is a bit scary going to pick things up on your own... :o

I did think about upcycling part of the massive sideboard that is STILL in the dining room, but both husband and mum have persuaded me out of it. I spoke to a local auction house who said I wouldn't be able to even give it away - so I'm going to finally bite the bullet and give it to charity next week. A real shame, but there you go.

Not much decluttering going on here but I did spend a lot of time in the garden last weekend. I've also started painting the window frames inside the house (which have needed doing since the new windows were put in 3 years ago) so I'm not standing idly by.

Have a lovely (decluttering) day folks. :j

Got rid of CDs to Cash Converters and the CS, got rid of a load of files, folders and a flexi-clamp* to the CS and some old medicine packets to the chemist.

There are still a couple of foldable crates to bring over as well.

I'm making plans to buy a small filing cabinet so I can get rid of a desk, a load of folders and a small box for files which is too small to fit all the household paperwork so I've got a shelf full of files filled with paper.

Even if I thin out all the old paper, there still not enough space in the box file to fit all the stuff.

*Yes, although I didn't pay that much for that item, it really is as useless as it looks. It was in a SALE so it was a bargain. Not. :rotfl:

IF they take it... it took about 5 attempts to find someone to take mine several years ago.. they can't sell them so don't want them.

Sideboards, china cabinets and tv cabinets - the charity shops are awash with them.

Unless it's exceptional or a rare make, you might be on a hiding to nothing with the sideboard. :(

Had a day off work today (and tomorrow too, yippee) and was being helped by my parents to re-felt the lottie shed.

Faddling job but to get the step-ladder around the back, I had to haul out an unused plant stand thingy that had been lurking between the fence and the back of the shed waiting for a need to arise for it.

Decided that if this wasn't happening after two years, it wasn't happening full stop so was going to stand it at the foot of the lottie with a "Free" sign on it but had a brainwave when saw another lottie keeper whose plot backs onto mine and asked if he'd like it?

Took it gladly so that was a result.

Am very weary as a result of the shed work but feel pretty satisfied. Have sent a book I'd finished with off with the relatives to go into their charity shop book donation bag which will be leaving their house later this week.

Keep on keeping on, lovely peeps. We have nothing to lose but our kipple, clutter, knick-knacks and misc.

Anyone seen roundtuit lately? Hope all is well with her.

i've had a day off too, without children woohooo, the hosue is in the in between stage where I have hauled loads of stuff out of place a to sort through and realised I want to store the sorted things in b and this would be easier if i got rid of the rubbish in b, which leads to a need to sort space c......

still a car load full to the tip/recycling centre. The shed now looks like the sort of place normal people would look in and think - "boy this needs a big tidy" which is an improvement on backing away slowly in fear they may be engulfed.

some of the paint (that I use) from the DIY/craft cupboard has been relocated onto shelves in the shed, that one can get to, and see what they are, in neat rows, and know that all of them have usable paint in that has a distinct purpose. I keep going in to look, it's quite a shocking development.

The actual DIY/craft cupboard is all over the kitchen. This is because the stopc0ck is under the floor of it, and was covered in rubble and un-get-at-able.

I've cleared the rubble, and realised that the stopc0ck is approx 1ft below the original victorian floor in the hall surrounding the cupboard. which is Okay, except that...

...the original victorian floor is apparently held up by bare earth. Which explains the damp earthy smell in winter: it's damp earth.

It's spilling into the cavity where the stopc0ck is (there is nothing containing the earth under the floor), it's higher than the floor of my kitchen and the non-hall rooms of the ground floor are suspended timbers over cavities, with this block of blinking wet earth in the middle of the house.

so I got sort of stumped and chanted the mantra "It's stood for 120yrs" repeatedly whilst filling a bin-bag of stuff from my wardrobe. this has been a dreaded job, but it seems easy in comparison to the ground situation downstairs. I think I might just replace the floor of the cupboard and not think about it. I can get to the stopc0ck now which was my goal......

I've decluttered the first aid tin today of all the out of date medicines. Hope this counts. I was quite impressed with myself, I've got sinusitis at the mo, hence the need for more drugs than normal :(

I've done loads of decluttering, but there comes a point when the stuff lying around are the projects that......actually need *gulp* work done on them!!

The stuff lying around needs hemming, trimming, stitching, framing, sanding, painting, varnishing, scraping and all manner of other things doing to them.

Having disinterred them from under the clutter, I s'pose I have to stop procrastinating and get on and do stuff.

Wow. Actual work. I wonder what that's like? :o

:D Are you my evil twin?!

    Right now my sitting room harbours the following;

A corner shelf unit still in its packaging to be sanded slightly and stained before going up on the wall.

A candlemaking project, elements of spread around. Do I want to melt candlewax in 29c heat? The hell I do......

Random bits of kipple (TM Philip K !!!!!! - kipple is random small clutter which ususally multiplies on all surfaces when your back is turned and will one day consume the planet).

A tensioning block and cord from Mum mending my chair which I could have given back to her on Sunday if I had my wits about me and will now have to wait until mid-month.

A shirt which needs mending before it can be worn again hanging on a hanger from the door handle and

various other bits of random carp inc a tiara (don't even go there :o).
    Dining room
hanging from the top of the door to the kitchen: top still requiring lace trim to be sewn around hem and sleeves and a large denim dress I have dreams of using for a coat (needs some inspiration/adjustment) - I have an over the door hook for them :o.

on the table: a cross stitch poppy, a cross stitch kitten playing with a very expensive ball of variegated thread 'wool', a couple of magazines and [STRIKE]folder of stuff for my OH assessment for a new job next Monday[/STRIKE].

There are numerous other stitching projects all carefully boxed up on a shelf so I can kid myself they're not actually clutter :o.

on the back of a single chair: [STRIKE]a jersey cardigan needing stitches to stop the hem fraying[/STRIKE], a nice handbag for job interviews and a little, over the body purse for those hot days when I go out without a jacket with pockets to put stuff in (spare keys, bus pass, MP3 player).

On a folded dining/kitchen table next to the desk: [STRIKE]a mountainous pile of training files and papers from my previous job and which would be useful if I ever go back into that industry (looking increasing unlikely :()[/STRIKE], a bottle of nail varnish remover (useful for removing ink from my wall planner), a little Ferrero Rocher box holding my spare Ventolin inhaler and spacer, [STRIKE]a pile of cds for CashConverters/Music Magpie and some old medicine tubes and inhalers for the pharmacist to get rid of[/STRIKE].

How are you getting on with your kipple GreyQueen?

The cardigan is stitched, washed and hanging to dry - stitching took no more than 20minutes

The poppy is miscounted  but still a work in progress - I know where I went wrong so I know how to work around it.

The dress/coat is on it's way - I just need the right golden orange shade of thread to stitch it up. :o
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

Ooh it didn't even occur to me that a charity may not want the sideboard, thanks for the heads up pigpen and gingernutty! There are loads of charity shops here so I hope one will take it - it really is too nice to go to the tip!

Went to varnish the window frames last night but stupidly forgot it wouldn't dry for 16 hours! So will have to find the time to fit in doing them at a weekend if husband can keep the little one occupied, or take a day off work (neither of which are at all likely!). So that's another unfinished job :(

Given that eBay are going to start taking 10% of a seller's postage charges from September, it looks like I'll have to stop using the site as a way to get rid of my kipple. The pool of ways to get rid of clutter is decreasing!

BTW loving the references to kipple - Philip K !!!!!! is one of my all time fave authors :D
