I am waist deep in chaos! But it will get better!

DS came back for some more stuff today, but won't get most of it for another week when he has some time off.

DD1 is away. DD2 is starting to clear out the cabin bed in preparation for demolition. The room looks like a bomb has hit it - she's bunked off to be in the small bedroom tonight! At least I can start early tomorrow as she's not in it!

well done everyone! I'm taking the kids to their grandparents for a week so hopefully I can crack on in the evenings after I've dropped them off. I've been creating a list of things that need doing (both winter prep/diy and dehoarding) and trying to come up with a plan to get this done in the best order - there are some things I can only do when the kids aren't here so it's a window of oportunity that I don't want to waste.

have to admit that camping gear from 2?3 weeks ago still isn't put away in the loft, but it is on the plan (have to chuck out some things in the loft first so can access a decent space and put it away in an organised manner).

job application is in, don't think I'll get it, not least because I ahve to give 3 months notice and job starts on 1st september, but writing the application has opened my eyes to all the things I do, and potentially could do, so very useful excercise.
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)

The demolition of the cabin bed was easier than putting it together (largely because when I couldn't unscrew something I hit it with a hammer!)

All pieces bar the really big one are outside - I will organise a skip this week.

Upstairs still looks like a bombs hit it - but I have a charity bag for Tuesday - and I am going to be ruthless!

Lurker here who has really been enjoying this thread.

I have been following the fly lady thread recently which has helped but to be honest with a house stuffed full and nothing in the place where it should be its not making a massive difference (except for the kitchen).:j

I think I have to be honest and say I have a hoarding problem so I'm going to join in with this thread and hope it helps.

Oh where to start, perhaps the stairs where things are piling up.

    Must use my stash up!

Virtually all the training files are gone - if I ever go back into that industry, the files will be so out of date so as to be useless. Some very posh four hole lever arch files to leave the house at the weekend.

A couple of files might help with someone else's revision so I'll pass them on.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

Just sending Mr F down to the charity shop with 4 bags of stuff.
I will do more sorting out when my lunch has gone down - get indigestion if I bend too soon after eating.

Sorting through the books today as hoping to get rid of very wobbly book case and put up some book shelves on the wall where they'll be out of the way. Have realised that I haven't looked at the world atlas or encyclopedia for at least a decade so they're going, along with some books I enjoyed as a teen but know I won't read again.

Getting better at letting go. Still not easy though, got rid of one cook book as it is boringly entitled Chicken, but couldn't part with any others.

Well done to everyone who is still plugging away at it!

3 bulging bags are sat outside waiting to be picked up by a charity! And it's gift aided too, which helps them!

  • Well done cyclingyorkie, it's a great feeling giving to charity, especially when it's gift aided.

I've managed to fill a big sack with coats and random bits to give away.

Had a very productive sorting session last night in the dreaded spare bedroom cupboard. I had boxes of old card making stuff (just scraps of wrapping paper really!) and got rid of loads, twas great. Now just have to convince hubby to get rid of his old keyring collection!!
