  • I really don't like funerals. I know very few people 'enjoy' them but I find them forced, staged, intrusive and full of nosy people having a gawp at the grieving family. I never go to them.

I know many, probably most, people find them a comfort but I can think of nothing more unpleasant than mourning your lost loved ones in front of an 'audience'. I dread to think what I'm going to do if my hubby or kids die before me.

I keep thinking that my husband and I should really sit down together and plan our funerals so the other one doesn't have to think about what's needed.

Don't get me started on wakes.

OP - if you don't want to attend your nan's funeral then don't. Grieve in your own way. It doesn't matter one bit what people, even family, think of you. You can always 'visit' her afterwards.

Well received a letter as well, as I have been tracked down via the electoral roll.
    The funeral is on Tuesday
Sorting out a card today to send as I dont want to talk/text etc
If I can find out where the funeral is being held I will send flowers.
    Letter made me cry.

You dont have to go to your Nans funeral but you can go and view your flowers and pay your respects later on in the day. There will be no family members present as they will have all gone home and you will be able to spent a quiet time reflecting on the good times you spent with her.

Sorry to hear you lost your nan. No-one should feel pressurised into going to a funeral they really don't want to.

Why not go to the grave the day after the funeral with your flowers, it will be quiet and you can give your respects then.
