I found the only way to stop them from pooping in my border was to fill it with plants. Once there was less visible soil it went from a veritable cat toilet heaven to no poop at all for ages now.

Thanks for that advice, I have been reluctant to plant anything else as I was worried he'd just mess it up but maybe I ought to do as you say. He's a brute of a thing, I got home last night to find he'd dug another huge hole sending my plant labels that were stuck in the ground flying all over the garden. He's really getting me down now :'(

When I was a kid, I'd find a snail, put it on a paving slab, and put a circle of salt round it. Hours of fun. :D

Im 39 years old, and I still do it ;)

A good thing to prevent snails and slugs eating those juicy plants is copper.

Up until last year I was plagued with them, got speaking to an 'old timer' gardener and he told me about copper and a small electrical charge that goes through the copper when placed on the ground.

I honestly thought he was having me on, so I bought some and it did the trick:T

I had a big problem over winter with cat poop in the border, tried lots of products to no avail. However now spring has arrived, the plants are bushing out and the weathers been good enough to add a few more I've had not one incident of cat poo for ages. If you want to try it without spending a lot just get cheap bedding e.g. pansies to see if it works for you.

With regards to the comment on lacing tuna with warfarin: why is it that this site does not allow even a reference to downloading material from "questionable" sources and the like but apparently turns a blind eye to the promotion of illegal animal cruelty?!

If you don't like a post you can report it to the moderator.

However I doubt if the OP is serious.

I know lots of people who dislike/hate cats and have problems with them in their garden however they would never kill a cat or any other pet.

BTW I trying to work out if any of my neighbours have a cat to encourage it into my garden to get rid of the pesky squirrels.

If you throw the snails at the cat does that cure both problems in one go?

I asked my mum for advice on snails as the keep munching on my sunflowers and peas... she suggested salt around the base on the soil and a salty solution with water sprayed on the leaves.... have put it on today and will let you know if it works!

I was just reading this (http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/animals/features/291feature1.shtml) about slugs and it lead me to this - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/gqt/slug_resistant_plants.shtml - a list of plants slugs don't like.
