I throw snails into my chicken's pen....

Don't see much of them after that!

    Any advise on Starlings nests?

How long should I wait to get rid of them?

Wait till the baby birds have left the nest.
Then clear out and block the hole/place where they are nesting.

Do they take offerings of snails?

I sorted my Cat problem out without harming a hair on their heads :D

    How?

I've tried crushed garlic, citrus fruit peel, soaking the soil and Silent Roar but still the pesky blighter insists on digging huge holes in my border to cover his doingses. I'm not prepared to go out and pay £30+ for an electronic gizmo, whats your secret?

    Thanks

Well, tried an assortment of products from Wilkos & The local Garden Centre and a high powered water pistol from Toys R Us with limited success, as new house, came with at least 8 cats.
I thought I would try some "Cat Psychology", not knowing how successful it would be....
I observed to find out who was the Toughest Cat in the Garden, after a few scraps it appeared to be the Siamese Cross, So I made friends with him, gave him a few titbits, stroked him, spoke nicely to him etc, Now he has taken upon himself to defend my garden from all comers, So now, I only have 1 cat in the garden and NO CAT POOP!!!
Not sure if it will work for everyone, but it has for me.

    Thats a great story!

I only have 1 culprit. He's a big bad hardcore daddy of a feline and he's laughing in the face of my attempts to deter him. I can't befriend him as he mainly comes in my garden when I'm asleep/at work :(

I found the only way to stop them from pooping in my border was to fill it with plants. Once there was less visible soil it went from a veritable cat toilet heaven to no poop at all for ages now.

Snails found in my garden go for a quick flight onto the garage roof - hopefully up there they are 1) a long way away from my plants - long slither across open patio to get back 2) either on the roof or on their way back easy for birds to spot, or 3) getting roasted by the sun.

Had a bit of a chuckle yesterday when I spotted one that clearly had issues with its homing system and was heading vertically up the adjacent house wall!

I have to agree with catewithers hens are the best way to get rid of unwanted snails. Maybe you could rescue some battery hens http://www.thehenshouse.co.uk/
