umm i would say shows how much he cares but i dont wish to change the direction of the post, since most of your debt is in high interest credit cards and OD's. Two things that i could suggest
1st is to open more credit cards accounts (think i am mad dont you) but seriously look for the o% introduction rates with no charge for moving money on to them, you can then pay off these cards with out occuring any interest charge for a period of time, the number of cards you can do this with are getting fewer, but if you are clever about it you can probably keep this going for a while, this will actually allow you to pay of big chunks of this debt as i would imagine most of your payments at the moment are just paying off the interest.
The second is to get a loan get all the credit cards paid off into a loan may take you 10 years to clear but will be a lot cheaper then the way it is set up now.
The third is to ask your other half for a loan and treat him like a bank at least the intrest paid is still in the so called family then.
ways to start earning extra moneys :- if you do all the washing ironing etc start charging him or dont do it, he may just start coming round to helpping you then!!

What the hell does he spend £3500 per month on?

With that kind of income theres no way you should be <s>so far in debt</s> in debt at all.
  • he just wastes it going out with his friends on his car or his moterbike he came off last week so he is paying to put it right, he withdraws £100 a time and dont no what he does with it.
i have tried to get a 0% credit card but was turned down as was the loan. Boss says he will get a card in his name to transfer £10,000 onto so that should help.

I am sorry but you have two children one of whom is 13. Have you been putting up with this !!!!!!!! for that long. Seriously it is truely shocking. You are obviously intelligent, write well, can see your problems. Why are you putting up with this. Tell him that it has to change, tell him that you are going bankrupt and the house will be sold if he doesn't pull his financial weight. Yank his head out of the sand and force him to listen to you.

Get it down in black and white. In an excel spreadsheet and SHOW him how bad this is.

I am SO mad on your behalf:mad:   He has NO RIGHT to treat you like this. And make you so upset, stressed, worried etc.

    Sorry rant over

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Geez. I am astounded. He gets £3500 a month yet you have to, basically, pay for everything and he doesn't care? And you don't want to tell him about your debt because....?

Frankly, he needs to wake up to the real financial difficulty you are in. You need to tell him and show him the extent of this.

normally I am a very understanding reader of posts. But I am astounded at your DH (in this case D!ckhead husband)

What on earth does he spend his money on. You are a family. He earns the most. The money should be pooled.

My god, I am in shock at what a selfish pig you are married to.

He has no right to get mad at your debt. I could say, you spend too much on your kids, but tbh, thats the least of the issues here. He needs to get his ar5e into gear & realise he has a family. He must surely realise that you don't have the sort of money to fund the lifestyle he wants.

Sod the financial aspect, I'd kick him out, or at worst, leave.

    Good luck to you

  • Chevalier - We did have a council home and I was a stay at home mum, But he wanted to buy a house on the estate where we grew up. I went back to work and then my problems started, I had money again and I spent, spent, spent. I wanted everything yesterday and with the help of credit cards had it. I never thought about the debt it was just money i borrowed, but now I have had my light bulb moment theres no going back only forward. i think OH secretly knows the problem but dont want to ask, I think hes scared of what i might tell him. Things were not this bad when i had no debt. plus OH hates debt so I carnt tell him what ive done.
