I fail to see how it costs over a grand per month per household to collect the bins every other week.
Goodness me where do you live to pay £12,000 a year?Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -

Social care takes a very large chunk of the budget as well. The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0

The information from my council states that most of the money goes on council housing, education and social services. All I get for my
1420 pounds a year is the bins emptied and I have very little rubbish.0 -

The 29% seems to be all households in Kirklees who are claiming any C/T benefits so I don't think child benefit will be taken into consideration.
From the Huddersfield Examiner 17th Jan '13
Kirklees will get £28,152,860 for its own Council Tax Support scheme – 10% less than it currently costs the Government.
Of that £23,487,833 will go to the council to run the scheme and the remaining to local parish councils (£71,733) and police and fire (£3,644,977) precepts.
It means some households currently in receipt of council tax benefit will face bills up to 29% higher.
Clr Robert Light, leader of the Conservatives, said it was a “double whammy” as households were hit with a 1.6% increase in council tax.
“This isn’t something any of us like doing, I’m sure it’s something we all agree on.”
Councillors voted to pass on the cut to working age households.£2021 in 2021 no.17 £1,093.20/£20210 -

so no street lights in your area, you never use the library or any leisure facilities, the grass is uncut, the streets and pavements full of litter, so even if you don't get any social care yourself, you'd prefer your infirm elderly neighbours have no support and that neglected children aren't dealt with, etc?0 -

Surely those on benefits are more likely to receive help from the council, so will be getting better 'value for money' from their council tax?SPC #1813
