This thread brings back memories... the same happened to me, was furious as had decided I had enough of internet dating! A week later, as I was still fuming over it, got a message that was different and to cut the story short, 10 years later, I am happily married to the man! We still joke about the fact that it wasn't for Match poor custumer care, we would never have met!0

Hello,
Could you let me know how you got the refund after Match.com charged the subscription fee?
Many thanks0 -
For anyone caught in this trap or other subscription based services, i have used the following to get out of them, as none of these company's ever seem to send the contract out to you in durable form ( ink on paper ), and many of the staff are thick as &^&^ or think they know best. However i have used this to get out of RACING UK's and now used it with MATCH.
Basically you are entering into a contract with match, but they have to send you this in a durable form, terms and conditions on the website are not enough, who's to say what revision to agreed to as it can be changed at anytime. Until they send the correct required information your 14 Day Cooling off period is extend until such a time it does and once done you then have 14 days left to cancel. Because nothing is ever sent, this allows you to terminate at any time up until then under the 14 day rule, allowing you a full refund. Technically you could do this several months down the line getting your money back.
Hope it helps.Cancellation period extended for breach of information requirement
31.—(1) This regulation applies if the trader does not provide the consumer with the information on the right to cancel required by paragraph (l) of Schedule 2, in accordance with Part 2.
(2) If the trader provides the consumer with that information in the period of 12 months beginning with the first day of the 14 days mentioned in regulation 30(2) to (6), but otherwise in accordance with Part 2, the cancellation period ends at the end of 14 days after the consumer receives the information.
(3) Otherwise the cancellation period ends at the end of 12 months after the day on which it would have ended under regulation 30.

The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013
because of the failure to provide terms in a durable form as perConfirmation of distance contracts
16.—(1) In the case of a distance contract the trader must give the consumer confirmation of the contract on a durable medium.
(2) The confirmation must include all the information referred to in Schedule 2 unless the trader has already provided that information to the consumer on a durable medium prior to the conclusion of the distance contract.
(3) If the contract is for the supply of digital content not on a tangible medium and the consumer has given the consent and acknowledgment referred to in regulation 37(1)(a) and (b), the confirmation must include confirmation of the consent and acknowledgement.
(4) The confirmation must be provided within a reasonable time after the conclusion of the contract, but in any event—
(a)not later than the time of delivery of any goods supplied under the contract, and
(b)before performance begins of any service supplied under the contract.
(5) For the purposes of paragraph (4), the confirmation is treated as provided as soon as the trader has sent it or done what is necessary to make it available to the consumer.
Schedule 2 isSCHEDULE 2Information relating to distance and off-premises contracts ( legislation DOT gov DOT uk /uksi/2013/3134/schedule/2/made )
The information referred to in regulations 10(1) and 13(1) is (subject to the note at the end of this Schedule)—
(l)where a right to cancel exists, the conditions, time limit and procedures for exercising that right in accordance with regulations 27 to 38;0 -
If they send the T&Cs (contract details) by email then that counts as durable form. (A link in an email does NOT).0

Three now, after said person responded to my post on the other thread
Moneyineptitude had a valid point... The user posted two near identical posts on two seperate threads. It came across as more preaching than actually asking for genuine advice!
I would have wagered £10 on johnskydiving16 resurrecting a few more Match.com or RUK threads on this forum0 -

If you look at the time stamp i actually posted in here first, i then realised that what i posted could help other as it could be used for any online subscription based offer online, hence i created a new thread.
As for resurrecting a few more match.com or ruk threads, i responded to one, this one.0 -

I have no beef with you, and my post was deliberately written in the past tense for a reason you have clearly missed.
Good luck with match.com and, if you are gambler, your gambling (or getting help if you have a problem, of which I am not in any way suggesting that you have).0 -
I have never felt more angry, powerless and I feel raped.
Match.com have taken £179 from my account today... Can't do anything about it , why is this practice legal?0
