i personally dont see my disability as severe. but that is because it doesnt cause me pain ( apart from migraines)
and another blind person agreeing with me isnt a problem.
the issue is, that someone with a different disability, chooses to call my struggles 'insignificant,
you objected when i compared the diffuculties i have crossing the road with your disability.
 its a different thing.
but i dont choose to minimise your problems ...
 you choose to minimise mine.
thats says that you are insecure.
you have already soubted my dirext pauments. saying you find it hard to accept that such a minimal disability is so well fubded,
i am of no threat to you. so why do you feel the need to dismiss my disability and cast judgement on the help i ((gratefully) receive?0

a lot of us are disabled.
 i myself am bling.
i have special software that allows me to joimn in this forum.
how many unskilled jobs that are available would welcome a blind member of staff?
No doubt you'll flame me for this but I guess you're not claiming JSA then which was the fundamental point of your argument with me0

I RECEIVE esa BECAUSE OF MY DISABILITY.
THAT DOESNT MEAN I CANT SYMPATHISE OR EMPATHISE WITH SOMEONE ON jsa.
I HAVE SAID MANY TIME THAT I WILL MAMAGE, EVEN THOUGH IT WILL NE JARD.
HOW THOSE ON jsa WILL MANAGE, IS BEYOND ME.0

Interesting argument that a disabled person needs a spare room so an overnight carer can stay occasionally. What about the divorced/separated father who can only afford a 1 bedroomed flat and can't claim more than the 1 bed rate cos he doesn't have full time care of his children? The same man that sleeps on a camp bed or settee when his children stay? If its good enough for them then surely a carer can be accommodated in a similar way 1or 2 nights a week0

I posted a reply to Dunroaming on this thread, you have no objectivity or you would reread the posts since my first post on this thread and your blinkers would fall away.
Not that I expect objectivity from someone like you, you beleive that every disabled person sleeps in hospital beds :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Why the hell would all of the so called disabled people be prescribed an expensive bed via OT's?
They wouldnt but dont let the truth cloud your single minded crusade.
 And your's is not?
I know many people who are disabled who do not have hospital beds....the discussion related to couples who are unable to share for medical reasons. The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0

On the D&D forum Glaswejen used the "only" term to address another deaf person, jen and I have other severe disabilities as well as being deaf yet no one has pounced on that post.
I have survived benefits cuts worth more than people are now faceing, no one posted on here to support me or the other losers then dspite me posting it on here and they never would as it didnt affect them.
I couldnt do anything to alleviate the cuts that affected me, people affected with the new cuts can do something to help themselves.
Well I wasn't here then....so let me get this right because you faced cuts and no one supported you, you think then it is justifable to do the same in reverse? And you don't think people should have the right to try and do something about it for themselves? For example appeal? Although isn't that helping themselves?
I'm really confused now The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0 The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0

It isn't really a relevant comparison in terms of equality and disablity. It also isn't likely that if someone needs 24/7 it would only be one or twice a week either from a carer either they need over night care or they don't whether that be from a partner, relative or sleepin paid carer.
But I don't believe he should face extra charges from the bedroom tax either. The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.0

Why can we never have an adult discussion without hijacks?
I quite honestly see the same argument by all people, I have seen no-one who wants to target the severely disabled, the variances are where the lines in the sand are drawn and definitions.
If we can therefore agree on a reasonable definition (small personal variances aside) then things can move on a more civil basis. My reason is when someone states "severely disabled" that we all have a comprehension as there is a vast difference between disabled, severely disabled and those who claim exemption under Disability Act. I feel that people are talking about the same people, yet one choses to use the word, disabled and another severely disabled.
Is this an unrealistic summary of where I think the several hundred threads have led to.
Overnight carers, where there is severe disability and due to that disability require a room for the carer, whose carer resides in the premises in private and social rental have exemption.
Overnight carers whose carer resides in the premises are currently not exempt, yet should be (or are they now exempt), in one housing area or the other. Please confirm those who have knowledge.
If the above are now down to the discretion of the Council on an individual case situation, then no-one can do any more, as there will always be a sand line and the councils will review this.
That leaves for me a few areas on a wish list that on a personal note I would like to see exempt.
Adapted properties, to myself this by definition would be a truly adapted property, ie those with wide doors and single story washing facilities, and or, adapted kitchens, and or extensive renovations and or a fire alarm that uses visual alarms for hard of hearing and other expensive adaptations. A grab rail or wooden ramp would not equal an adapted property for me. This does not mean they cannot downsize should if ever a suitable property becomes available and in the unlikely scenario one does and the renter refuses as like their extra room, then protection is forfeited. My wording of adapted, however, assumes more than small modifications and where mainstream properties would be unsuitable.
Where there are no smaller properties in private or social within a defined local area then until a property in either sector becomes available they too have protection.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0
