Well if you are not an expert in disabilites then how can you really judge?

Two bedroomed property whether house or flat -

So couples who can't share a bedroom when caring for a severely disabled partner should be taxed. Do you want graphic details pictures? Hospital beds, oxygen, tracking, adaptations what would convince you?

Where as the next door neighbour single with 1 child pays looses nothing?

Not that I'm saying either should loose but if that isn't discrimination then I don't know what is?!

You don't need a separate bedroom because someone's on oxygen and only a small minority need a hospital bed.

my PA#s grandparents arent affected as they are pensioners..

but he recently came home from hospital after a stroke before christmas.
he has been supplied with a hospital bed/hoist etc. all the necessary wqui[y,rmy.
there is no room in the bedroom for a bed for his wife, so she has had to move into the second bedroom.

if they were 25 years younger, they would be having to pay.
  • I must move in different circles then because everyone I know and am talking about is in a hospital bed.

Anyway that is irrelevent are you then saying an adult caring for a SLD man should be penalised or moved because they have a box room from when his sister got married 20 years ago?

To me the severity doesn't make that much difference it's such a small amount to many but to that person it is a lot.

It will not free up housing what so ever and there is no evidence it will.

Housing should be based on need and sizing criteria in both sectors has never achieved that.

I really cannot get my head around how people can think this way and the vilivication involved.

    Very sad as I said.

    Good night peeps.

If someone is under 25 say and in social 2 bed and gets 56 a week then the proportion they have to pay is disproportion to others which would be age discrimination too ?

But 25 year olds renting in the private sector are only funded for a room in shared accommodation so is it fair that they get a whole 2 bed house/flat to themselves in social housing?

I'm not going to get into a debate about figures because this is not the issue. What you are arguing is that disabilty benefits are too high that this group should be targeted.
    :(

What I will say DLA HM is accounted for DLA care is discounted.
Not sure the figures are accurate either because wouldn't they only get the carer's premium?

Anyway if you believe it is right to take money of a severely disabled person and their carer for the sake of a room then that is your perocative. I don't think anything I say will change that. :( I find it a very very sad state of affairs that people thing like that about disabled people.

And if the severely disabled person was in care how much would that cost a week?

So vilivigation of disabled people is justifed because you think they are getting too much?

No I am not saying that, you are deliberately taking it to extremes. Show me where I have vilified disabled people ?

My understanding is that these benefits are received to help them be equal to "normal people" or however its put then surely if the need for an extra bedroom is due to the disability then it should be paid for by a disability benefit. In the same way that an adapted car is needed for wheelchair users and that is what the mobility component is for.

I put the situation into a calcultator thingy thats what came out.
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j

Really? All the blind people, all those with learning disabilities, all those who are mentally ill, all those with COPD and heart disease? All in hospital beds?

It's exceptionally relevant if you keep giving misinformation.

Well as I said I think this is a very unlikely senerio in the first place.

And btw Confused.dot you don't get CP and CA do you? Although I don't claim to be a benefits expert.

At the end of the day it would be far more cost effective if everyone is soooooooooo concerned about money to have taken the £10 christmas bonus of everyone. Lot simpler and a lot less paperwork, hassle etc for LA's, saving on admin, appeals etc.

    Got to go good night.

I don't really think that it's similar but I agree that withdrawing the £10 Christmas bonus would have been a good idea as well.
