bloolagoon the bottom line is whether it be a 2 bedroomed property and it could be a very small 2nd bedroom just enought to get a bed in which my daughter's flat was is there really much difference between that and a large one bed?

To a single person who is very vulnerable/disabled no it doesn't but to a couple who need to share with high needs it does, and to a Mum caring for a severely disabled adult of 30 it does.

But the bottom line is they are all vulnerable and need to be housed.

But we agree on that, as does nearly every poster from what I read. Sorry I don't know your history to comment, does your daughter have a disabled child who needs care?

They need separate rooms as they are disabled I don't understand why this cost would not be met but one of the benefits they receive.

Couple above rough income 400 a week
    150 - ESA
    22 - EDP
    36 - CP
    58 - CA
    52 - DLA MC
    55 - DLA HM
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j

    How bl**dy judgmental!!!

I'm in 100% agreement....and have my own reasons for being so......but it doesn't mean I've never suffered hardship!!

    well then shame on you!

if you have lived with equal hardship as someone on JSA that has NO choice but to pay the 14% reduction in HB plus upto 30% of council tax....

i would never be in agreement with a policy that will force someone to run a home and feed themselves on as little as £50 a week!

I know it's very very wrong :( but applying the same criteria to SH will leave even less options open and making it harder to try and remedy the situation in private is the way I see it. This will endorse the system in private not the other way around.

We all know it won't free up properties, if they were buiding more then yes but it won't, you know in your heart of hearts it won't. And the severely disabled will suffer and their famiies I know they wlll.

It's building and providing affordable housing for all that is the issue, this tax won't do that.

They had years to address this and didn't, so I hold no regard for changes. I think it will change, maybe not in current allocation but future, they won't allocate or allow "passed down" tenancy.

Or you could be taxed on your remaining like many as JSA for workers who worked that year is taxed. So remove 20/40%

    Have you considered this?

and them compare it with me. im going to have to find £80 a month for rent and council tax.
i have no option to move.

    ESA £99
    DLA LRA/LRM £40

doesnt seem so extravagemt mow. especially as seeing my DLA plus some of my ESA is spent as a direct result of my disability

I'm not going to get into a debate about figures because this is not the issue. What you are arguing is that disabilty benefits are too high that this group should be targeted.
    :(

What I will say DLA HM is accounted for DLA care is discounted.
Not sure the figures are accurate either because wouldn't they only get the carer's premium?

Anyway if you believe it is right to take money of a severely disabled person and their carer for the sake of a room then that is your perocative. I don't think anything I say will change that. :( I find it a very very sad state of affairs that people thing like that about disabled people.

And if the severely disabled person was in care how much would that cost a week?

So vilivigation of disabled people is justifed because you think they are getting too much?
The most wasted day is one in which we have not laughed.
