Thanks! Just to add: Lewycka's new book called Two Caravans is nowhere near as good as Tractor! I was a bit disappointed but ploughed on with it: just so-so for me.
I have just re-read To Kill a Mickingbird and had forgotten just how amazing it was. It's got to go high on my list of all time faves now.MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000

I picked up Rosie Thomas' novel The Potters House from a charity shop the other day and have just finished it today - I really enjoyed it and will definitely look our for more of her books, so thanks! I love it when you 'discover' a writer whose work you enjoy - and find they have a massive back catalogue. She will hopefully keep me busy for a little while yet!
I envy you for still having all her books to read. I am eagerly awaiting the next one.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

I read Rosie Thomas' 'White' a while back, really enjoyed it.
Just finished 'Venus Envy' by Louise Bagshawe, just starting another of hers, really enjoy her books.
Also really enjoy reading Cathy Kelly's books - I have all of them except one.
I would also like to agree with whoever suggested Harry Potter
I love reading and wish i had more time for it - trying to get into the habit of taking a book to work for the quiet times.Blood donations to date: 10 | Type: O negative[/B][/CENTER]0 -

This thread is great!!
I'm going to make a list of all of the recommendations and seriously check them out.
I keep a list of all the books I read (cos I forget and end up reading them twice. Or start to read them again anyways and then get annoyed when I realise I've already read them.
I have a small list of books that I can't remember if I've read before or not, so I wondered if anyone could tell me what they are about to jog my memory.

The only reason I'm not getting more of their books at the moment is because I can't remember if I've read them! Gosh I'm awful!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

This is such a great thread - only now, I've got a huge long list of books I need to read now! Will keep me going for ages!
Anyway, totally second the Rosie Thomas and Dan Brown recommendations.
Also wanted to add that if you like Maeve Binchy & Rosamund Pilcher type stuff, Elizabeth Jane Howard is very good - I've just started the last book in the Cazalet chronicles, which is great. I love Maeve Binchy and Rosamund Pilcher myself, but tend to find, particularly with MB, that the characters and plots get a bit predictable after a while. My favourite Rosamund P books are September, Coming Home and Winter Solstice (definately a pre-Christmas read).
Have just finished reading The Constant Gardener by John le Carre, which was excellent - a very gripping read.
Enjoy!!0 -

I also meant to say but forgot,
One of my favourite authors is Tony Parsons and I can recommend all his books.
And one of my other all time favourites is High Fidelity by Nick Hornby which I feel is by far his best bookGive me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.0
