It will be 0.3% of transactions for higher volume sellers.0

I wish that they would clarify more on the below:
Max: 0.3 % or 2
As I hope that you are correct Dave and you should be based on the 1 & 2 *'s however even 0.3% may be quite a pain based on our current %'s would be around 30 every 3 months and if the closing of cases goes like I think it may that would be it for a lot of people.0 -

It is - I've about 4000 sales per 3 months, and have 7 x 1* or 2* for postage, so for me it's done on %. The 2 is for sellers who may sell valuable items in low volume for who 0.3% may be less than 1 sale.0 -

Great stuff - we just need to get clarification regarding closing the cases then.0 -
I think I am already resigned to losing TRS in the next 12 months. I am such a small seller anyway and if I cut some of my lines that won't be economic to sell that lowers my number turnover a small percent. Add to that poor stars being likely due to switching to a courier that appears to be slower that my usual Royal Mail- and now these cases every time someone asks a question and bang, that's my discount gone.
I was already dithering about taking a rather lucrative freelance job for a few hours a month and cutting back on ebay a little, so that might be my way forward.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. There is an interesting thread on the power seller board that says all buyer questions asking about delayed items now get turned into cases. However ebay are apparently categoric that these do not count against a seller but do count
against the buyer.

Am I alone in seeing this as a positive move by ebay?
On here and on the ebay boards the main body of advice is contact your seller first do not just go straight in and open a case as most things can be solved with a little communication.
Now that friendly less adversarial approach is being removed.Which means sellers enter into communications with their noses a little out of joint before you even begin.
Then theres the overseas sales as soolin mentioned. Also not forgetting that you can only open one case , so in asking a question you then have to leave the case open as in my case until item arrives and is as described in the timeframe set out by the case.0 -
Interestingly, this morning I had a SNAD message from an Australia member (I'd send them the wrong item, my error), which arrived as a message, not a case, so I wonder if not all ebay sites will trigger these cases.
I have all my items marked as standard international post as well, which when I looked doesn't give a delivery estimate, so not sure how they will work into the INR cases.
From what I understand, the buyer can't escalate the case until after a period of time. Provided the seller communicates with the buyer and is proactive about resolving the issue, I can't see many sellers escalating the case - there will be unreasonable buyers who will, but there have always been unreasonable buyers. Most buyers I've had who have not received their item just want what they've paid for and have accepted the need to wait 10 days or so after it's been posted and it either turns up or is replaced.0 -

It's the time frame though, this could be an issue.
buyer emails the day after posting to make a simple comment like 'thanks for posting so quickly' or ' if I like this can I order another direct from you? (Both of which I had in the past week). the contact us button turns those into cases.
The buyer then either has to cancel the case within 6 days (should be 8) or escalate it, if they escalate it then it counts against us and we have to refund.
Both those questions I posted above were for long haul buyers who would not be likely to get their goods within 6 days.
The power seller thread has other more worrying points to raise as well, not least of which is that scammers will merely go to PayPal to claim instead and avoid being noticed by eBay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. In either of those cases I'm not sure why the buyer would escalate the case. From my understanding, it's only if they use the "I haven't received my item" or "Item not as described" options that cases are opened, and again, why a buyer would use either of those options for the messages you've mentioned doesn't make sense (though with buyers, anything is possible).0
