Hello Lottiesmum.
I'm relatively new here too. Welcome to the board!0 -
Afternoon everyone
:hello: Lottiesmum welcome to the madhouse
Here we are sat in our caravan, in the rain, just outside Louth, lovely green countryside all around us. Just watched the BBC summary of the GPrix, Skye curled up at the side of me, think we are having a brunch for Sunday dinner, have Lincolnshire Sausages thawing.
Had a lovely rally near Lincoln for the last 4 days, and staying here overnight, to have a check on the 'van tomorrow. Depending on how long they want the 'van for we may nip to Mablethorpe for an hour or so. Then home tomorrow p.m. When it might have stopped raining.
((Hugs)) to all those under the weather, hurting, fed up, or who'd just like one.
Take care everyone. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
I am the dishwasher in my house. I did have a dishwasher but when i saw how much my electricity bill shot up after the first quarter i asked hubby to unplumb it.
In all fairness, 'youngest' always washes his stuff up and after i cook a meal he usually washes a few pots up along with his plate. Since theres only the three of us theres and most of our meals are somewhat 'basic', theres not really that much washing up involved.
My parents got a dishwasher when they did up their kitchen (quite a few years ago now) and I don't think it has EVER been used. Mum reckons it's quicker and easier just to wash the stuff up and then it's ready to use again straight away. She even still washes it all by hand instead of using the dishwasher at Christmas!
Although given I've lived with this example of how a dishwasher can easily be done without I don't think I'll ever bother getting one.0 -
Hi all
hugs to those that need them and welcome to lottiesmum
on the subject of washing up bowls i always have one in my sink
dont know why presumably i grew up with one also it uses less water than the sink
miserable here again today
so washing on airer also some ironing done and went for a walk with my ds who is staying here after his backop
apparently that is one of the best exercises that he can do its a slow walk but he is improving gradually

I have the worlds smallest kitchen, so no space for a dishwasher even if I was inclined for one. OH was my dishwasher, so the kids have been getting lessons, although DS still tends to think if you leave them in the sink the laundry fairy's sister comes and waves a wand! Maybe that's why he's started using kitchen roll for his sandwiches instead of a plate!RIP Iain

Afternoon all
Welcome - newbies!
We have a bowl in our kitchen sink and so did my mum and her mum before her, as lots of others have said I think it's what you're brought up with. I have always had one since I had my own home. Since we moved to this house in 2003 I've had a DW though - and I have to say I'd would never go without one again - I'd rather not have a WM than a DW - obviously I'm a lazy mare but just find it so helpful. I put as many of my crocks and pots in as will physically go - and have now got it down to a fine art that I only use what will fit in! Also if kitchen crocks, utensils, cookware etc is not suitable to go in DW then I won't buy it. The only exception to this is my very good quality saute pan which is non stick and just needs washing out with clean water and then rubbing over the surface with kitchen towel to dry it.

Turned out to be a lovely afternoon here:) washing dried on the line:j
Just cooking tea before walking the dogs.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Evening All
Welcome Lottiesmum.
I have a dishwasher, wouldn't be without it and also have a washing up bowl (check me!). Our sink is a huge belfast sink that would cost a fortune to fill for washing anything so have to have a bowl.
Weather not to bad this morning but has been raining since lunchtime and is quite cold too. DD took me to Glasgow for my lunch which was lovely, had a wander round the shops and visited friends on the way home. Just waiting for some logs to be delivered and then will have a nice warm bath and cosy up by the fire for the evening.
DS2 phoned, he has been away on a survey ship for a week and has just docked, he has a few more days to go and then will be home for a few days before he goes to Ireland for more work. Little wonder he hasn't managed to get himself a permanent flat yet.
Enjoy what's left of Sunday. Take care. XX0 -

Don't do washing up bowls....empty dregs down the sink before it all goes in the DW:p
We've had heavy snow here today....still can't here in my right ear..tea will prob be TA....Roasts - we dont religiously have one either....I fins sunday's too depressing....i've already been back to bed for 2hrs.
Take Care
We have a bowl - I cant imagine how we would manage otherwise. It does become a dumping ground for kids who think that is acceptable as regards washing up - a squirt of wup liquid.
Bargain Bird - I also hate Sundays. I always used to work them and still cant get out of the feeling that I should be doing other things. Hope you feel brighter xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
