O/s Daily Sunday 17th March

Options
O/S Daily Sunday 17th March March This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

    Morning all all:j:j

Chilly and damp here this morning.:j:j

Well A better nights sleep for me, Not a good night as I did wake up about 3 times. But I was able to fall back off within minutes. Like a normal person.
Woke Up at 5:00am In the end. Wide awake so I got up. Don't mind getting up at that time. Thursday night last week was the last time I spent all night In bed. No sleeping In my chair for me last night!

Normal Sunday here. The girls are off to church. Then to the MILs and too see there great grand parents,

We Don't have Roast For today. Money is a little tight so we decided not too bother this Sunday. We would have a change, We have quite a bit of fish In the freezer, So we are going to have a homemade fish pie. My wife cooks a great one. It will be strange not having a roast on a Sunday. But a change is good once In a while. And we have not had a bit of fish is a food few weeks now. In fact I can not remember when It was we last had fish pie or something else with fish.

My wrist feels loads better this morning, I have a lot more movement In it and Its less tight to use it too. But there is a bot of a dull ache In it at the moment.
Think its all going the right way now. And its nothing as bad as It was.

We have been told that the Girls did good at there tap dance exam yesterday.
We would know what marks they have got for a few days.
In the Bal exam a few months ago they got the maximum marks that they could have got, But while we hope that they get the same sort of score again. It don;t really matter as long as they are enjoying it still , While both girls love going dancing. Its twin two that you see dancing at home. Twin one is happy to sit there and listen but twin two had to get up and dance. From this I'm thinking that at some point twin one may won't to stop going and take up something else. Which Is fine,

I'm looking forward to seeing the girls change over the next few years. As they grow into themselves. And become there own person. You have always been able to see that they are different, That they are each there own person. But since they have started proper school and been In different class's they have developed there own self of "self" If you can understand that.

Well I hope that you all have a great day,

    Enjoy :j:j

  • Good morning halight and to those who cross/follow,
Chilly here this morning but for once it's not raining. Still very wet and muddy though.
Lots of catching up to do today as i didn't do as much as i wanted to yesterday. It was a day i really don't want repeated if i'm honest. I told my family that i didn't want anything for my birthday because i just really didn't know what i wanted. Told them not to waste their money. As long as i get a card. What did they do, get me gifts. Although they were very nice, i just wouldn't use them, they would just get put on the top of my wardrobe or in a cupboard, so i told them that. Not as bluntly as that though, i was a bit more diplomatic. Asked them if they could get their money back. Wrong move, they took offence. I felt like i was the biggest b!tch a walking. They cancelled the meal because they didn't feel like going. So hope today is a better day.
halight, sounds like the girls did really well. Well done to them.
Need to gather up some washing to do today. I will get some baking done when the oven goes on later. Not going overboard with the baking as my lot want to cut down a bit. They say that while i keep cooking it, they will just keep eating it!
Chicken for dinner today with all of the trimmings.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

  • Good morning everyone :)

It's cold and damp here but not actually raining .... yet. I won't get any washing dry so am not bothering putting the machine on. Washing already done will have to go on the radiators and be finished off with a few minutes in the banned tumble drier later.

Very happy household here yesterday following the rugby. OH was absolutely delirious and it was a great game. I bought him a bottle of Welsh beer to drink while he was watching it.

Am in work later so have a lot of jobs to do first and need to get a bit of shopping on the way to work. I better get a move on or my day will be wasted.

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Have a super day :)

Good Morning everyone ,well the sun is looking a little watery at the moment so although its bright I have a feeling it won't last.Baking to do this morning before eldest DD arrives for her Sunday morning coffee and chat.I have been up since around 6 as I woke up and felt quite invigorated (don't know why and it will wear off no doubt) so I polished off the ironing and even put it away.Maybe spring is on the way.I am going to have a look at the wash 'n' wear Dulux paints as I want some 'scuff-resistant' paint for my sitting room.my builder is happy to do it for me and I thought if I research whats on offer I can build up a stock for August as he will do it while I'm on holiday.Has anyone else tried it and is it worth the extra money do you think.
Re the baking I will be making some biscuits and probably a boiled fruit cake as well.My tins are looking a bit bare and I have my friend coming down for the day tomorrow and I know we will be having a serious knit and natter time as her DD is now 10 weeks pregnant with her IVF twins .so lots of 'granny chatting' I expect. Her son has two little girls but she only gets to see them when his ex-wife allows it so not often.Sad for grandma's when couple split as they seem to have so few visiting times afterwards.I am lucky that my tribe all live nearby so they are never off the doorstep bless 'em :):)
I had a nice time on my day out with DD to Bluewater but didn't see much I fancied to buy DD was cross as I know she wanted to treat me but everything is so expensive that I didn't want her to shell out bundles of cash. She is off to Boston at Easter so she said she will find something there to bring home and I can't argue as I won't know what it costs :):)Still she did by a nice lunch for us both and I was very happy with that.I think the older I get the more I find some of the prices in the shops just silly, especially in a place like Bluewater where its all designer this and designer that.To me it just seems overpriced, maybe I am just too frugal.DD says I have OS running through my middle like a stick of rock :):)
Right well time to get some coffee down and kick start that motor again
Have a great day whatever you are doing
    Cheers chums

    Morning all

Had a lovely afternoon yesterday, dd1 was catching the train from uni to the bull ring in Birmingham , so I managed to get a train ticket for me and dd2 and we met her there, it was lovely , we had 4 hours walking round window shopping and had tea there (n@ndos) which I have never had before and I really enjoyed it . It was a lovely girly afternoon :j

Up early this morning couldn't sleep , so I've been sat with the cat on my knee watching some old episodes of glee , I love glee :D

Got a pork shoulder in the slow cooker which we will have at tea time when dd2 is back from work

Have a lovely day everyone xx

    Morning all,

A bit dull here this morning, but a good breeze, my washing will be out later, I dont have a TD so mine is out at any oppourtunity.

Have woken with a horrible sore throat, feels like there is a huge lump in it, going to take some tablets and try and knock it on the head.

Ended up having an omlette yesterday, with fresh eggs, was very nice too, so will have the spag bol today, Halight its rare for us to have a roast on a sunday now, dd is usually working, and if not she is out with her dad, and OH and I are always busy, we have ours on a tuesday when we all have more time, enjoy your fish pie.

Got some ebay listings to do later on, and will take the dog out for a nice walk, went to the beach yesterday which was bracing :D

    Have good days all

And Happy St Patricks day :T

    Morning everyone

Halight - pleased the girls enjoyed their dancing and it sounds like they did well. It's great they are developing their individualities and personalities - don't envy you when they both hit the teen years at the same time though! 1 boy at once is enough for me - DS1 hasn't been too bad, but he's always been the quiet, shy one, but DS2 is quite confident, loud, funny, can be temperamental though, but can be good company but academically not really there at all - doesn't apply himself to any kind of school work etc, but socially can hold his own no problem.

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Light cloud, less blustery and dry here this morning.

DH now not well, he's been up during the night - he woke up with a banging bad head, temperature and aching bones etc and s & v - sounds like either the bug that's doing the rounds or food poisoning - he's actually a bit better than he was in the early hours but today's plans will be put on hold. He was fine yesterday and when he went to bed. He will just have a lazy day and we'll see how he is later. Don't think it's food poisoning as I've eaten he same as him and I'm ok (at the present time anyway and anything that's going to upset my stomach will do sooner rather than later due to the IBS - sorry if that's too much info at this time on a Sunday morning!)

Dinner last night was roast pork, sadly none left - but on the upside nothing got wasted either.

Did get some of the jobs done that I wanted to yesterday - did some baking - made twinks, a chocolate cake, bakewell tart, mince pies and jam tarts - tins replenished so menfolk will be happy.

Spent ages yesterday trying to sort out a pay as you go deal for data allowance for our laptop - as we run that with a dongle so we're able to take it away with us etc whilst in the caravan - just couldn't seem to make it work then the website I needed to use was down - so eventually at 6pm I finally got it sorted.

Have a peaceful, restful Sunday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

yesterday was a bit of a washout for me. We went shopping but hubby felt ill so we came back without the groceries. I tell him time and time again that he should eat regularly and not skip meals but does he listen? Basically, he'd not had anything for breakfast 'because he wasnt hungry' and by the time we had got to the supermarket his blood sugar level had dropped and he'd gone lightheaded.

I know that man inside out, i could see it coming! I'd have done the shopping myself but he has to pay (we dont have joint bank accounts). I did suggest that he sat in the car and i ring him when i get to the checkout but by this time he looked a bit grey and thought it best we get home. I fed him up, he had a sleep and was fine for the rest of the day.

So today is shopping day. I wonder if we will get there this time.

Hope you all have a super Sunday and that its warmer where you are than it is here. I'm freezing!

    Morning all,

halight thanks for starting the post every day. It must be awful waking up at an ungodly hour every day. It would drive me mad.
We very rarely have a roast on Sunday, just because I find it a faff to do, even though we had one religiously at my mums every week. When I do have one usually at her house its such a treat. It would be my last meal, I love it but can never make it like my mum
It's so nice to hear how proud you are of your girls, they sound gorgeous, I love hearing about them.
Ttftm well done again to the welsh, clever idea with the beer, what you after lol
Forever Saving sorry you had a bad day yesterday. You should do what I do and regift, is that bad lol. Or maybe give to charity, then someone can have the benefit. Only problem is I forget who sent what. I need to start writing it down. Put it behind you, there is only today, yesterday has gone and you can't change it. I'm sure you had your reasons.
JackieoI'm with you on the expensive shops, that amazes me as I used to be the girl in there flashing the cash and waving her credit card. You've all rubbed off on me and I love it, never again I've learnt my lesson.
It's such a shame when little ones don't get to see their grannies and grandads. It's such an important relationship. I know your lot couldn't manage with out their wonderful gran:)
I love it when I get on here and the threads short. It gives me chance to remember the replies I want to put. Memory like a sieve.
I wanted to apologise for my post last night. Sorry I know it wasn't offensive but I was waffling like a mad woman. I think I got carried away with the pain medication which makes me ramble. Dh had to remove the laptop. My sinuses or teeth are so bad I have try and block it out. I really need to get to the bottom of it. The dentist says its not my teeth but don't know if I believe her. I have always had sinus problems and the pain moves around and I've had a cold. It's on the upper right jaw mainly. If anyone could give me any advice pm me if you like I'm sure everyone on here is sick of hearing about it
Sorry again☺hope the crazy lady has left the building
Was it Judi talking about the washing up bowl. My mum always had one, but my hubby had never seen or heard of it and he only lived a couple of miles from where I grew up. Isn't that odd, I don't have one in my sink in the kitchen but i find it handy in the laundry, and no I'm not posh, shall we do a survey on washing up bowls, hands up::rotfl:
Today will catch up with my DD she was out with friends dancing last night and although she's 27 I always worry about he
My middle boy stayed at home last night, very unusual and my little one went to a party and ended up staying over, I think I've just heard him creep in. He will probably sleep the day away.
Dinner today will be something with lamb mince, probably pasta, I got some new tagliatelle from Mr A with herbs so shall give that a try. I also need to bake a ginger cake and some biscuits as the tins are empty again oh um, I don't mind really, I love baking especially Sundays for some reason.
Ok she steps away from the new pics, the crazy lady has definitely left the building.

Lovely evening last night at friends, good food too. DD is taking me for lunch today in Glasgow so looking forward to that and even better not to have to cook again!
