Lavertons website - real or not?

In response to your suspicions about Lavertons...it's a scam.
I made a purchase on 22nd April and received confirmation email etc etc.
By 29th April the website is no more and I have no come back as I paid by bank transfer. Stupid you may say, well in hind sight yes but I carried out all of the checks.
They had a UK address, they had a telephone number and email contact address. All looked OK and maybe I kidded myself that the prices were low because they had no credit card overheads as it was by bank transfer.
Never again and unfortunately has made me suspicious of everyone now and kinda taken the fun out of internet shopping for a while.0 -
I know what you mean, I also thought it was real - bank said nothing I could do, but am reporting it to police as its a legit Nat West bank account. I have had a week of it - today got an email purporting to be from amazon, thanking me for my order of £77, stayed calm, knew I hadn't ordered anything - phoned them - scam!DEBT FREE since 2011

I ordered goods from them on 24 April & needless to say they have not arrived so looks like its a con & I done it through the bank transfer as well, luckily it was only for a travel kettle thankfully, but I feel so sorry for all the others who has lost out more x0

Legal theft, almost. Because its fraud or deception, its probably a grey area or the police could no doubt attend to the bank account details and track down the perp
Thing is this guy will look at this like his job, so he didnt shut down the site out of shame or necessity more likely he is now using those web hosting resources on an entirely new site in a similar vein.
Glad to hear paypal wasnt useless this time
I can confirm the website appeared to be rated positively not that long ago.0 -
For what it's worth I contacted the Nat West bank belonging to this fraudster- they are looking into it.
If anyone else who has been ripped off wants to do the same, you never know, we might one day get our money back.
Call Nat West customer service centre 08702403355
for those of you who may no longer have the details they are:

Good plan, I did this too, they put me through to the fraud team, who will investigate, I think the more people that do this the better chance we stand. When they put me through to the fraud team it asked for my nat west bank details I just stayed on the line and waited - a person then picked up and took all the details.fingerbob7 wrote: »For what it's worth I contacted the Nat West bank belonging to this fraudster- they are looking into it.

my story:-
brought off what i thought was a proper web site from lavertons a kitchen accessory set for £14 which anywhere else was £20+.so thought i had a bargain, paid by bank transfer, which i know now is foolish
the next day went to check my order but while googling lavertons this thread come up!!!
so i contacted my bank(which is Natwest the same as scammers) only to be told no transactions have gone through yet,but if it does they(Natwest) have a right not to help me retrieve my money as Lavertons as a customer of the bank have rights too, just great they back the scammers.
The day after this(tuesday) the transaction showed, i called the bank once again, going through retail complaints, fraud and customer services but still got told i had to wait 30 days for lavertons to be given a chance to produce the items, despite telling them they are scammers.
i went from the bank to Trading standards leeds, thinking they may have a file on them and get something done this way,but no you get Citizens Advice Centre call centre who basically said the same as the bank,"although people are giving revisions of lavertons until you have give them chance to produce the items you cannnot do anything before 30 days"
Whatever happened to crime prevention?
so i waited 30 days and once again called my bank, going trough customer services, fraud dept, retail disputes and back to customer services who then said i needed to go in branch.
so i went to my nearest branch only to be told i need to report it to the police and let them investigate.
Went to the police and now been given a web site to visit to log the crime and then they will decide if they will investigate.
i think we all should write into Natwest with our concerns with the same heading "lavertons scam-with the help of Natwest".0
