    Thanks Tilly,
I hear what you say about stopping it.
It could however, be to my advantage. If OH and I decide to move in together, I'd probably want to rent my house out, in which case, I might just have ended up with a tenant whom I know well and trust to look after my house.
It could all be a win:win situation.
I get a good tenant, he gets a roof over his head at affordable rent for him.
    Happy Days!!

  • Yay! Lost 4.5lb at Slimming World this week. Happy bunny!!

Just got back from a shop at ASDA. Spent more than I intended to but picked up some good bargains along the way.
Knorr Stock Pots were down to £2 from £2.41 and a few other things were on offer too. They'll last for ages.
I know that you can buy cheaper, but I'm trying to lose weight too so the food has to be tasty or I just won't eat it.
Put the cost onto the CC and then paid it off so that's rolled the balance into another month - no interest charges for Thistle.!!!

  • Right, I must get on. I've got deadlines and admin coming out of my ears. Must get cashed up from last night's Slimming World Group and then off to the bank so that Monday's monthly direct debit from my business account to my current account does not become a rubber one!!

Planning a coffee and 10 minutes sit down at 2:30pm. You're all welcome to join me!

hands over an empty cuppa ... thanks me dear i'll join ya

    re friend:

i would deff suggest to him that whilst you want to help him, you do need him to understand that him moving in will have additional costs, and that it is only right that he pays these costs ( tbh i'm positive if he was able to think right he would know this himself) explain that you are not out to make money, but that you cant afford to loose money, i would also suggest that you say to him you will review the situation every 3 months or so, so that as he slowly recovers he can start to be more in control of his housing issues as well, he will no doubt want to start paying a bit more as well so that not only will his costs be covered but also a wee bit extra for the pot to help you become mortgage free faster will happen,

i would deff suggest you review it regularly and have him know a specific time frame as otherwise it may become uncomfortable for you, it could be that in three months there is no imporvement for him so you just say " listen we will keep it as it is for another three months and review it again in september " for example

we had our nephew living with us for ten years and never took a penny from him,in hindsight i wish we had set it up from the start so that we all knew where we stood from the beginning, but it got to the stage where it was too uncomfortable to bring up, we did approach it at one point and he did agree to pay, but never did, but he did help in other ways so we accpeted that.

would he possibly think about working with kids privately tutoring them etc? looking at the up your income board it appears it pays not too bad at all, it might tide him over till he retrains in another job

Hey elantan, that's such sound advice. Thank you. I think he has looked at private tutoring but he's a little reticent about the whole teaching thing as you can imagine. You're right about reviewing regularly though. Not thought of that.
