Oh dear Thistle... I hear your neighbourly related wailing.
When you own your own house, all of a sudden who lives next door becomes a lot more important... and I agree on BTL. Generally rented private properties are a nightmare. Our next door (detached luckily) are CLEARLY renting from a parent of one of them. They throw their rubbish out in their back garden (i.e tins of stella x loads) and it ends up all over my garden and driveway.

But thats not helping- I'm sure new neighbours will be lovely do not panic :D

Maybe you should have a valuation done on yours for peace of mind?

How much does that usually cost?

And I'd have to tidy up first!! :rotfl::rotfl:

To be honest, I'm not looking to move anytime soon so it's a moot point really. In any case, her house looks fab because she's tidied it up for the cameras. If I did the same, I'd be happy enough. My front room is immaculate as this is my non work room and its better than theirs.

My bath still needs fixing though and my kitchen is dated, but with a lick of fresh paint and a good, deep clean, it'll look ok. The units are nice. Could use a fresh sink and work tops though.

    B&Q demo kitchen anyone?

All my kitchen dreams.......not exactly compatible with a £0 CC balance is it!!!
Right. Big decision.....crack on with the debt busting.
Clean the house from top to bottom and get the look I want without the big expense. I'm only putting myself through the mill otherwise.

It's Wednesday again!! That means Slimming World group night when all my lovely members come and see how we'll they've done this week.

I love my group and it's also my weekly pay day too. (I get a monthly payday round about the 10th of the month which is earnings from Slimming World for looking after my Team of Consultants).

So close to month end now so ill be able to see the dent I've made in my debts.

    Wowee!
OH has just presented me with £30 to pay for some Correx that I gave him last year out of my stock (I use it to make visuals for my group) and I'd completely forgotten about it. That'll go against the CCs as soon as I get home.
SO close to just having 0% CC debt left to clear!
    Big push in April!!!

That sounds exciting thistle, your fairly eating up that debt... my friend is back in SW she seems to think its better this time compared to before ... And she liked it before as well :)

My other friend goes as well, but she is useless at sticking to the diet, still looses weight so she reckons it's the best diet ever lol

Thanks elantan, it's certainly the best one I've ever tried and deciding to be a consultant was my saving grace when I was made redundant. Now I have a group with over 100 in it and I look after a team of 12 other consultants too. It's definitely the role for me. Very people orientated and I just love my job. Because I'm self employed, I work when I like too.

  • Ok guys, I need help now. Someone with a good maths brain. I thought mine was ok but I need some figures checking.

Postie arrived this morning with CC statements and a statement for my car finance which to be honest I'd sort of forgotten was still a debt (just gets paid every month by DD - no probs)

I can't decide whether its better to overpay the mortgage or the car finance. The mortgage is much lower interest but acts over more years.

    Figures:

Car finance. Borrowed £8,295, pay back £10,394.24 over 4 years so I make that £2,099.24 interest. (11.1%). I can pay of part or all of the finance at any time without penalty.

I've been paying for 12 months so only £7,560.68 left to clear. Payments are £207.38 a month of which I calculate £172.81 pays off capital and £34.57 a month if we're taking the interest to be linear and not compound.

Mortgage is 4.61% but on £88,466 which is over 29 years left.

Surely I'm still better paying off the mortgage and just letting the car payments run for the 36 months left, even though its at a higher interest rate?

    Aaarggghhh!!!!!!

My first thought Thistle was to over pay on the car finance... because it is at a higher rate. If you pay that off sooner, that's £207+ which you then have free to OP/Save.

Also some estate agents offer free no obligation valuations... have a nosy if you're curious!
    MFW 2010- £112,500 + 20% Equity Loan = £150,000 35 years :o
    2013- £108,877.28 + 20% / current OP = 19 years :T
