Struggling to get my month end done so I can drive to a friends for the rest of the holiday weekend. It's taking forever.
Popping to the shop to cash in my ticket, then back to the grindstone.
Will a bottle of fizzy pop help?

Any ideas on with whom I should open my savings account?
Needs to be instant access, no penalty, and manageable online.
    Now where's that Lois.........?

Hey! I'm not an expert on everything, just an excel geek. :)

However, I can make some suggestions based on what I've decided to do myself. Have you got a Ntionwide "current" account yet? It will pay 5% (taxable) on balances up to £2,500. Make sure you don't go over the £2,500, though, or you get no interest at all. Also, have you got a Santandr 123 account? It pays 3% on balances between £3,000 and £20,000, and gives you cash-back on DDs to utilities & council tax. If you've already got those and filled them up, then you'll have to look at Martin's savings article on the main site.

Hey, I meant to come back and say to you, found the link:

    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/flexdirect/rates-fees-charges.htm

Little line at bottom of table, you get 5% up to 2,500, but 0% on any balance over that, but still 5% up to from what I read?

Thanks Calfuray. I misunderstood what the big type said, and didn't see the small print (or was looking at a page that didn't have it). That's excellent news. I can keep mine close to the £2,500 limit and not worry that the interest might take it slightly over. :)

Have to admit I put £2.5k into my nationwide account and just leave it there ... I then add to it for the bills etc, sometimes it sits at over £4k in it but I don't get interest on anything over £2.5k ... But still £8 a month is handy
