Had to larf me ed off at the two reversing into each others path this wet morn in the local W8flowers. One was thre ways of quarter out, t'other was oblivious and started to reverse. Horns start. Second car driver was not noticing. Good fun. Went on for some time, mbefore the second car realises it cannot get out.
No damage, ugh, but hey, I am going to be sexist and both were female drivers. Hoe the same time next week.0 -
I would have gone out and quickly took photos of the placement of the cars (easily done since he was trapped in by you). In case he claims the circumstances were different (bit difficult to do consider it's his rear and your side, so the only cause would be for him to reverse into you.
The nightmare scenario would be if he reversed into your front - which happened to me, but the collision was so small that neither of us bothered to take it up with insurance. Their defense could has been to say they were rear ended by me (scummy thing to do but could be possible).
I know you said you did 7mph - it would be a lie, but under no circumstances admit to that with insurance (in any case - how accurate is the speedo at these low speeds).0 -

people are so short sighted, I belive 90% of these car park accidents would be avoided if people reverse into the bays rather than driving straight in
firstly
1) reversing in a cold engine is bad so it's better to be front out so you can just get into gear1 and drive away after you shop
2) you have much better view when driving out0 -

If I can't get the trolley round the back of the car I leave it at the front and carry the bags to the boot.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Well plenty of people have offered tips about parking so I'll add mine.
I park at the back of the car park where others can't be bothered to walk from. Strangely I have far less hassle too!0 -
same thing happened to my son when he was reversing out of a parking spec, his insurance company took the view that anyone reversing out of a parking bay regardless of how fast/slow the other driver is going OR the fact you may be halfway out, the driver reversing is always at fault. In fact they didn't even put up an argument, just paid the other party without question.
Funny really that the other guy was leaving menacing voicemails on my son's phone demanding £500 cash, to then find out out the total amount paid out came to just shy of three and a half grand. :mad:0 -

most peoiple just push the triolley between the 2 cars and hit the on that isnt theirs, thats why you should drive in.
the point about a cold engine and reversing is pointless IMO0 -

no most people drive in so they will use the trolley on the road side, and dump it onto the car on it's side and drive off.
So it won't happen to you - but if you're a idiot user it is likely that you will do to them - I treat others how I expect to be treated and always open doors carefull beside other cars and don't scrape trolleys along someone elses car.
cold engine thing I read somewhere and took on face value. probably some truth in there.0 -

Something of a myth, trolleys are not the worst offenders when it comes to dents and scrapes along your car......
It's actually those giant sized fashionable handbags with the MASSIVE metal buckles, handbag charms and studs and sh*t.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I have one of those and have never scraped anyone's car with it.
The biggest cause of supermarket car park dings is people who just don't give a **** about other people's pride and joy. The choice of implement used to actually do the damage is irrelevant. You may as well blame the little rivets on jeans as people scrape their backside down the side of your car.0
