We do shopping between Asda, Poundland and Wilkinsons. If I got everything from Asda we would be looking at a bill of well over £100.

Great idea with pastries and home made cakes and stuff. I spotted Asda have lots of cold pastries he could eat so I shall try adding these in.

He claims he did visit a Dr just before he met me who just said he had a high metabolism! I would love to swap for just a week! :rotfl:

Fab idea with the little bags of fruit! I don't want to monitor a 27 year old mans food nor do I wish to tell him what to eat. I don't have children and I'm certainly not going to mother him. What I am concerned about is that if he does change his diet he seems to lose weight very quickly. Even if he eats more - if it's not the rubbish he's eating now, he just loses it so quickly! As he's slender anyway, losing a stone makes him look extremely underweight. His BMIs perfect and he's at a healthy weight for his age, it just all seems so excessive!
  • As a matter of interest how old is he and what job does he do. I would say that he is storing up issues for the future. Just because there are no outward signs does not mean that on the inside he is not storing the fat around his organs. If he ever changes his job or even becomes less active he will not be able to stop the eating and then he will pay big time. All that processed food is not good and it is not filling him up. The only reason he says other food is boring is because it is not giving him an instant rush of sugar.

I will say though, when I turned 30, it started to slow down.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

    Hey OP
I'm a 35yr old with a not overly manual Jonny and I eat as much as your OH by 5pm most days, if he's lean and muscular he probably has a very high metabolism and needs masses of calories.
Try whole wheat pasta, peanut butter etc, calorie dense foods

But at the end of the day your OH just needs to eat lots

I could suggest he takes porridge oats or has them for breakfast before he goes to work. They are really easy in a large bowl with milk in the microwave for a couple of minutes, lots of workplaces have microwaves too, they are filling then he could snack on fruit.

    .

He should also try raw almonds with the porridge - they don't need to be chopped. A body builder suggested it to me a few years ago and I didn't think I would like the taste but they taste wonderful together and are very filling. The only thing I need to be careful of is not to each too much as they taste so good.

Does he smoke by any chance? This speeds up your metabolism. The problem is that even a fast metabolism is not going to stop issues occuring because of a poor diet, not enough vitamins, to much fat. He really needs to change his habits even if it is gradually.

I'm like this as well, apart from I don't look remotely muscular or half as strong as I am. The only explanation I can give is fast metabolism, it's a blessing and a curse!

How come a slim person who eats like a horse is "allowed" to have a fast metabolism but a fat person will get told there's nothing wrong with their metabolism?

If weight is down to calories-in, calories-out and he is still slim, he needs to eat more.
