I can understand the general sentiment off the replies, but I would like to add that
    1. I served notice on the tenants before the 2 years was up but they WILL NOT move out without me going to courts/bailiffs which I probably need to start reading up on and
    2. I did drop several addressed envelopes to the tenants asking if they could put anything I get in them and put it back in the post box. They obviously can't be bothered to do this and instead lie that I have had nothing.

    1. They don't have to move out without you going to court. So yep, you do need to start reading up on that.

    2. I'd be pretty narked if my landlord served notice on me and still wanted me to play postman.

So no, sorry, I agree with everyone else - tell the relevant people you've moved.

What sort of scam are you running that you need to use your tenants' address?
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

    I agree with everyone else.

"Several addressed envelopes" for tenants to put themselves out by posting them, without putting yourself out at all over 2 years to inform the companies concerned, is either completely selfish or complacent, taking your tenants for granted.

Letting is a business and must be treated as such. That includes getting your own affairs into order, and making sure you know what being a LL involves.

I advise you join a LL's association pronto if you've served notice, are already on notice that the Ts are insisting on their legal rights, and have not yet started researching how you're going to do things right from now on.

The mail is delivered to an address, once delivered then your tenants are able to open it without fear of any reprisal (no matter what the common myth is that its illegal to open post addressed to a different person but at the same address).

You didn't answer the question as to whether your mortgage company is sending mail to the tenants address because your mortgage company doesn't know you have let it out. IF this is the case then Id be playing a lot nicer.

If it isn't then write to the companies you know are sending to this address and change their records.

    Hi,
I originally had a royal mail redirection but after 2 years RM wont forward it anymore.

No of course they won't, most people would have taken care of their business by now, unless they are up to something.

Perhaps you should deduct a little from the rent to pay for your secretarial services:rotfl:

Ah now that makes sense. Course you'd also have to deduct tax and pay NI for your new 'secretary'. :T

I suspect the OP is a bit taken aback at the consistency of responses, he was probably expecting posters to side with him rather than the nasty, uncooperative tenants, but I hope he'll have learned a lesson by now!

Post can be re directed for up to 3 years. But as most have said this should not really be necessary.

If you did not change the address as you planned to move back in after two years maybe this is why your tenants are a bit narked.

How would you feel if you just settled somewhere then get told to move on?
