Possibly you are not taxing it then, probably just doing the mundane.

Possibly? Then probably? You seem to know (or assume) a lot about my usage habits. Which is possibly patronising and probably guessing of course ...

(Interesting that the only Blackberry system updates have been stability updates. However, if you haven't experienced any issues ...)

Grow up a bit and stop reverting to word play. As far as patronising goes, that is like the kettle calling the pot black and why I normally ignore your postings.

And that is where you are wrong, unless all you want to do is play some games (an awful waste for a tablet). If silly games is all you want it for then I agree buy a cheap android system.

The point I was making is Blackberry is last in line for developers and they pass the cost of supporting a tiny market to the users, if they even bother at all. As it is even the majority (Android users) have to wait in line behind Apple as I suspect developers know Apple users are intrinsically bigger spenders.

You don't have to be a historian to have seen many times what happens to 'fringe' platforms before long and Blackberry have a history of struggling to keep their momentum going.

Apart from an unnecessarily good cameras for a tablet the spec. of the Playbook is unremarkable. The Ployer Bird does a job, its a very good tool to watch a movie or have a quick surf but many Android tablets have moved on since too. I have a couple of new ones from Ainol on my desk here now waiting set up, really nice little tablets.

If the Playbook serves your business needs, fine, but I don't think that's a broad enough reference to steer the op down that route.

I cannot argue with that at all sillygoose and would broadly agree. The main thing is whether or not it does the job you want it to.

The main point I was trying to make is that given the quality of the Blackberry product, compared to others at the price point, there is little that even comes close (and I am afraid the Ployer does not). So if someone is looking to do basic tablet operations; documents, web, news, read etc. then I believe it is the best value for money (by a significant margin).

There is an old myth that you always have to have the most up to date equipment with various 'whizzy' bits but, in reality, most people do not need them, they are just falling for the advertising jargon. Sometimes good solid high quality tried-and-tested equipment is the best choice, even if it is not leading edge any more.

The Playbook is old-tech by now, and it wasn't particularly good to begin with, hence its paltry sales.

I can't believe this dead rat is still being punted. It's not worth thirty quid let alone £129.

would what people recommend for a 10" tablet nothing to fancy, i know i may need to increase by budget .
On a limited budget I would consider the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (about £260) or maybe the Kindle Fire 8.9" (about £230). If you can scrape up £330 though the Google Nexus 10 has a fantastic spec.
