I'm in a similar position, The BT wholesale ADSL checker also says it should be available for me on 31 Mar 2014.
But I know which cabinet I'm connected to and earlier this week a brand new fibre cabinet appeared next to it. Tried talking to the guys working there but they're just hooking it up to power and "don't know anything about the phones mate"!

I wonder if that date (31/3/14) is just some kind of "Max" date BT put in when they don't know a firm date. I've been watching it for months and it has changed, it said 6th Dec 12 for a while last year but changed to 31st Dec 12 at the end of November!
If the cabinet's been put in, I can't believe it's going to take a year for them to get the fibre to it, then it's just a matter of moving my line from one cabinet to the next.
• It's confusing as you would think they would want to take some orders in advance and cash in on the early adopters.

I've seen so many open reach vans at the exchange and cabinates that surly this can't be a year away still? If so then this must be the slowest roll out ever.

Have a look on the Openreach site. There's a bunch of reasons why it can take ages to get a new cab ready for service. The physical placing of the cabinet takes about 2 hours. Having to blow fibre 6km through collapsed ducting can take months if they ducting needs replaced, which may mean road closures/traffic redirection which take councils ages to agree to.

That is just one example of a delay, there's hundreds.

Cabinets were installed 6 months ago where I live and Talk Talk Business (my ISP) - Still deny this !!
BT checker tells me that I can get FTC already......
I will leave them - unless they join the 21st century
I have even considered transferring to TT home - but I can't get emails to the - I emailed talktalk_help@mailuk.custhelp.com and all that I get back is an automated response telling me to add the incident number to the email subject - which I cannot do (I have no incident number)
Does anyone have a Talk Talk email address to a real person who can help ?
As a NON speaking person - this is infuriating....

How quickly do BT update that website when a cabinet actually comes online? I can image there is some delay in this happening as well?

YAWN! Still flogging that old dead horse.

Customers will get fibre to their cabinet, which is a darn sight more fibre than they had before. Generally more fibre than copper.

Still happy to mislead?

No dead horse - say it often enough and folk will believe it, because they don't know any better. So that makes it OK?

We've ALL been using fibre since 2005, in some areas even longer. Since the delivery method hasn't changed (copper) it might be getting closer - but so what? The weakest link maxim is so true - only FTTP is fibre delivery.

FWIW, ALL Virgin cable customers are FTTC and have been for 15 years - what is sad, is that folk are fooled into thinking this is something 'new'. It might be for BT, but let's stop the bulls**t.

When we do get FTTP - what we gonna call that, then? Super-Dooper Fibre?

Cabinets are always installed first - and are no indication of the availability of BB in the area. This is because the cabs go in first and the fibre follows - as they need the cabs in place to terminate the feed, it also needs power installed and the telephone circuits converted to BT's 2CN infrastructure. Only then will BB be considered.

BT's marketing will have you believe the cabinets are required for BB, they forget OpenReach have first call for everything else!
