fibre cabinates installed so how long now?

Scroll down to table on this page to see estimated FTTC speed vs distance from cabinet:

btw IIRC BTO were recently taken to task (by the ASA I think) for providing inaccurate estimates of fibre availabilty (6 month windows). Their somewhat counter-intuitive solution was to change the estimates to a 12 month window.604!0 -
I think that table is probably innaccurate but better than nothing if you know which cab you will be fed from.
I just rechecked my estimate on the BT website and it is 60.7Mbps. The cab is spot on 300m using google mapping and the cable crosses the road twice (cab is same side as me pole is on the other side) which ties in with my recollections from when I was going to take the service.0 -
Yep, it's a very rough guide, in the same way that the BTW estimate (albeit slightly more refined) is only an estimate from a database (in many cases conservative).
The only way you know for sure is once the service is running and FTTC DLM weaves its magic.604!0 -
How quickly do BT update that wholesale website checker when the fibre becomes available? Do you have to wait for all the boxes to be switched on before it becomes active?0

Ok just looked on the BT Infinity page at future exchanges and that claims that my local exchange is "calender year 2013".
Now this is different from the Wholesale one which is saying March 2014.
Isn't this the same company handing out two completely different dates?0 -

I may have created a bit of confusion here. My speed went up without signing up for infinity (or anything else) I'm still on Plusnet's basic.
Sorry, BB
Edit, I've edited my other post. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

BT Infinity is a BT Retail product.
It's BT Openreach sfaik who do the fibre to the cabinets
It's BT Wholesale who do the backhaul from the exchanges.
It's OfCom that created this complete mess by splitting BT in the name of competition but still leaving Openreach with a monopoly on the last mile and not answereble to the public in any way whatsoever.0 -

The Infinity checker (BT Retail) and the sam knows information comes from an Openreach database which only shows public information about the exchange activation dates/expected dates.
The BT Wholesale checker however takes information from the non-public Openreach information which has more detailed date information about each cabinet.0 -
This is the BT wholesale link:

So that date is longer than the BT one. I'm guessing BT are a law until themselves and work at their own pace. Does seem that they have been working at the exchange and cabinates for ages now.0
