  • Hi, well we have been together 47 years and married for 45, we have had our ups and downs but we always made up. I was told once "never let the sun go down on an argument" we never have and it's worked for us. We talk a lot and still laugh a lot. It just works.

I'm curious to know whether for all those who mention "ups and downs" etc., any of them have involved romantic association with a third party? In my (sadly all too recent) experience, things are never the same again after that. You can forgive, move on, draw a line under it etc., but something dies.

    Hi Bogof_Babe,

Sorry you've found yourself in this situation. my previous failed marriage was due to an affair (his, not mine) It's a horrible thing to go through and for me, there was no 'coming back' from it. I ended it, no second chance, and I would do the same again. It's not easy and I have scars which still, after 12 years, impact on occasions now.

Only you can decide if it is worth continuing and trying to save your marriage. Whatever you decide, I wish you well :)

Been together almost 9 years, married for 5, i wouldn't say i was happy but wouldn't say i was extremely unhappy either.
    We've been through alot....serious illness, false accusations,redundancy.
I know he keeps alot of things from me and i don't particularly trust him at the moment but i'm not in a posution to prove anything at the moment.

There is no divorce in my family, my parents have been married 35 years, i know its not all been plain sailing for them but i wish my marriage was as strong as theirs is.

Hubby and I have been together for 14 years, got engaged after 3 months and have now been married for 12 years, I had just turned 23 when we got married. Yes, there have been ups and downs but he has supported me through so much and encouraged me to follow my dream and retrain as a nurse after our girls were born. I've now been qualified 3 years and have a job I absolutely love. I can honestly say I have never been happier and baby number 3 is due in July. I truly hope he is as happy as I am!

Im 27, i have been with my husband for 11 years and married almost 2. I love him more each day regardless of some of his annoying habits......snoring, annoying/playing with the dog while im trying to watch tv, his football obsession, chewing loudly and annoying, leaving the toilet seat up, finishing a bottle of showgel and leaving the bottle in the bathroom, using our 'steam' iron without any water.... Grrrr that makes me angry the list goes on and on and on but I still love him!!!!!

We've been together 18 years and officially married for 8 of those. We irritate each other occasionally, but I have loved him all of my adult life and there isnt a thing I would change. There is the coffee in bed most mornings before I go to work and he takes the kids to school, there are the intimate evenings watching the box and there are the tough times too. As always, we are a partnership and I cherish all the times together. May there be many more years ahead.

Wow I do that too. I didn't realise it was such a bad thing to do. I also boil eggs in the kettle which drives the OH insane so tonight I was a good girl and used the saucepan.:rotfl:
