Fed up of Mother's Day already!

It's all over my face book news feed 'happy mother's day' pictures of what everyone's been getting for mothers day.
I'm happy for these people. I have two children, and a Husband who will have got me something, as he'll feel obliged to give in to the commercialism, but what's the point? The kids make a card at nursery, that's fine for me, I'm happy.
I just can't help but feel for people that aren't mums for one reason or another, and have all this rubbish forced onto them.
I don't know why we need specific days to show the people we love, that we care. Tomorrow might never come, make sure your loved ones know how much you love them everyday, not just when hallmark want to sell some extra cards.
Anyway, sorry for the early morning rant! Hope everyone has a lovely day x

Mine does this too and I hate it.:o
It was fine when the kids were too wee to get me a card themselves but now they are older, they should either do it themselves or not at all iyswim.
Daughter designed and made me a 'card' on the computer and printed it out. She also baked me a cake with the word Mum on it which I am sat eating now.
Much much more welcome than OH going to Tesco to get a cellophane wrapped card and a box of chocs.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I have two children but, as a single mum, I find Mothers Day bitter sweet in the same way as I did Valentines Day.
My kids have done their best. I was given tea and concrete-like porridge just after seven this morning!0 -
Ye, I meant to add about single mums too. If you have wee ones, you aren't going to get a lie in, and who is buying you the cards and gifts? And I don't know how single mums manage full stop, it's bl00dy hard going x0

Love 'em
Bless
I got waffles, beans, an egg and 2 bits of toast.
*smug* :rotfl:
Admittedly in previous years when she was younger, breakfast was much more 'interesting'.:D

Mine are grown up, left home, and ignored me for the past 4 years - so nothing for me as usual. Even a text would be nice.......:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

My daughter just phoned me and wished me Happy Mother's Day.
My son wished me Happy Mother's Day and made me a cup of tea last week - so he didn't forget! The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0 -
I had a book and some sweets along with a card signed by the boys, but the OH bought it all. I say boys, they're 23, 21 and 18 so quite old enough to remember and get something themselves.
I don't really buy into the commercialism but one day a year where I don't have to do all the usual chores would be nice. This morning I was herding a drunken DS2 off to bed at 5.30am, he was sat on the kitchen floor! and later looking for football kit in their room that they could have found last night!!Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame
Love is a losing game0 -

At that age maybe they should be doing their own washing.0 -
I got a lovely bunch of flowers and 2 homemade cards from my 2 (they are 14 and 6 and bought the flowers themselves). Daughter bought me bagels for my breakfast (i cooked them tho as i'm very fussy on how they are cooked/buttered).
One thing i would love tho would be for OH to get out of his pit on a Sunday before me as he ALWAYS gets at least one lie in a week. Apparently i have to ask if i want a lie in.0
