As for food, people feed themselves good nosh for £50 a month. That includes all household products!
But people, Phil has already had these questions answered before!
I do only very vaguely remember talking about living costs before.:beer:0 -

Note in mine I never said gas anywhere, which pushes electric up as everythings electric.

Depends where you live dunnit.
You know this, I know this. I could go up Lincoln, or Yorkshire or somewhere and half the cost of living, and have a bigger house.
I could go London and my costs wouldn't even cover living in a cleaning cupboard with a cleaning lady....of the old and droopy variety.0 -

I see no way that you can lived on less that 1000 pounds a month if you include rent, bills, food, clothes, travel. So I think as a ball park figure you need to earn 15000 a year before tax.

Hell, we've got a household income of over £3000 and I worry about not having enough money to pay some of the bills
Stupid expensive London mortgage...
As a single person, sharing a house, I use to get by pretty well on £1200 a month, managing to save £300 of that.. so, I guess you could get by on £900.. I didn't drive though0 -
Graham_Devon wrote: »You don't get far on £1000 a month now. Council tax takes £130 of it instantly, so your down to £870. Rent? I can only go on rental prices down here, £600 for a 2 bed house, £270 left. Electric? £50 a month, water? £30 a month....£190 left.
Then you have the 'luxuries' TV licence, £11, Broadband, £15, telephone Line rental only, £11, £153 left.
Shopping. Even the biggest miser in the world will need £15 a week for groceries, including household items.
£93 left.
Run a car? At this point, your screwed.
Why would you be renting a 2 bedroom house to yourself? Share with just one other person, and that's already £300 saved on rent, £65 on council tax, and probably a little less than half on your bills too. But yeah, I'd say to have a half-decent existance, you probably need to be earning £1000 a month take-home pay (or live with parents). That way you can go out on a weekend, maybe run a car, put some in your savings, and buy a few things you might like, etc.0
