@Pingu - not sure what you mean by normal customer service, but our phones are manned 24/7 by tech support staff who should be able to help with the majority of queries? Really sorry if you called and didn't get the support you need though.
If you could paste a ticket ID into this thread for the fault we'll take a look and see what we can do for you.

BB has been slow for at 2-3 months may be longer takes ages to do anything pics in emails wont load etc... thought it was my laptop but its same with smartphones and tablets at home
home phone didnt work for 4 days in feb was told will be dealt with within 48 hours but it took full week!
contacted customer services last sat about BB speed was told it should be ok with in 72 hours checked last nighty it was 0.172mbs download 0.014mbs upload:eek:
what i mean by normal customer service is if you need to speak about account in my case wanted to know about the notice to cancel the contract i work mon-fri 8-5! so do your CS
im online after 6pm during the week and could be anytime at weekends

The news of Sky's acquisition of O2 & Be made me start looking to move away from Be, so I've just transferred to Plusnet Unlimited Fibre. Had a friend with them who was happy, the latest packages looked good and the price is fantastic. I was paying £13.50/month with Be for ~17/0.4mbps (down/up), and now I pay £19.99 with Plusnet for ~72/17mbps (down up). Also switched my phone from BT at the same time, which was cheaper. This gets rid of the activation fee, plus you can get £38 cashback (vs £28 if you just do broadband) from Quidco. Only down side is I joined *just* before they started the current "6 months half price" deal!

I think the reason the speed can drop when using a different ISP on the same line is down to the number of other lines sharing the same 'board'.
In my local exchange there is a choice between BT/BT reseller or for LLU, Sky or TT.
I had Demon for 10 years without any fuss (and only lost connection twice due to technical issues at BT exchanges between my house & their server). I paid for an 8Mb service & the speed never dropped below 7Mb.
My neighbour used BT for his BB & only got 5Mb on the 8Mb package. The reason was, my connection was only 1 of 8 ever connected to the 'board' atthe exchange as BT had divied-up the boards & earmarked this one for Thus (Demon), Zen Tiscali.
The board the neighbour was attached to had 46 of the 200 available lines in use.
Even with 1Gb of bandwidth available on each board, it does not take many connections to start to slow things down.
pingu, you may find that the board allocated to Plusnet in your exchange may also be allocated to several other ISPs, so you may be one of up to 50 people all fighting for the available bandwidth.
I have just switched to a full BB+phone deal with Sky (as Demon don't currently do this (but might in the future as they are now part of 'Vodaphone')) & by moving from a BT phone/Demon BB to Sky-for-all, I will be saving £10 p/m. Sky told me I would get 16-21Mb download speeds and to their credit, I actually get 18M/b, so not to far off the top limit.Never Knowingly Understood.

I've been very happy with Plusnet overall, although recently my line speed has dropped to almost dial-up levels (just done it now on 2 different websites: download speeds of 0.77 & 0.87 Mbps; upload speeds of 0.64 & 0.71 Mbps).
Mid-evening, it slows down to such an extent that it takes ages for a page on here to load (if it ever does).
Will raise a ticket and see what they say.0 -

One morning when our line was very noisy, I did this and the process of checking the line seemed to clear the noise - I don't know how or why but it doesn't take more than a few minutes to try it out!0
