Most or perhaps all the same channels are available on Freeview on your TV
Every tv made in the last 5/10 years has Freeview built in....
    Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!
  • A Freesat box would work on the same coaxial cable as the Sky box, it uses the same satellite.

How do we know a freesat box will work, when we have no idea what is wrong with the current installation?

    Hi

I've got SKY Freesat, but it's just stopped working. I don't know what to do?

Should I pay £65 to have an engineer come out or upgrade to SKY TV as it's free for an engineer to come out then?

    Thanks - John

It's only free for the first twelve months of your subscription. From then on, the equipment and it's maintenance is your responsibility, as it's owned by you, not leased.
Signing up for 12 months just to 'save' £65 is insane, as it'll cost you around £240 in subscription charges!
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Sky employ installers who are mostly not qualified engineers. I.e. no engineering degree and no general engineering knowledge. What knowledge they do have is limited to what they learned during a brief training course - mostly about safe use of ladders - and what they have picked up since. I mention this so people don't expect too much of them.

Well, it's not free. It will cost you a year's subscription.

Currently I do not have SKY as I do not see it is worth the price to pay for it.

However if I use topcashback they give £121.20 cashback
and SKY are giving £75 bill credit on the fist bill

all this is on a minimum 12 month contract with the basic package being £16.13 a month with a £10 setup fee.

So over 12 months it would cost £193.56 + £10 setup fee
with all incentives of £196.20 leaving £7.36 for a years worth of SKY

which i could probably get back by selling the free SKY box as I still have the old one from a couple of years ago.

The following year could be costly.

Since you already have a Sky+HD box, you have most of the FreeSat channels already. All this just to watch Game of Thrones?

I am assuming the £10 a month deal to keep the record function after I cancel when the contract is over is still valid.

When the time comes, if they offer a good deal for say £12 a month, I might as well keep the subscription going.
