Thanks to everyone who replied, I really appreciate your taking the time to help. Went to phones4u today and was given a temp cheap phone and adaptor while I argue with them re missold insurance. I will come back and let you know how I got on, perhaps it will help others in the same situation. Thank you again for all (mostly!) your helpful replies0

If your house contents insurance has cover called "contents away from the home" or possibly personal possessions cover then its worth a try to ring them and see if the loss could be covered. When I realised that theft and accidental loss wasn't covered by my mobile phone insurance I contacted my insurance company and changed my policy. I had to pay a slightly higher premium but it was worth it as it covered more that just the phone. It was only by reading these boards & a brief read of mobile phone insurance that I found on the web that made me realise that mobile phone insurance hardly covered the type of events that I expected eg loss, theft, accidentally dropping it/damaging it, big bills run up by the thief etc so I cancelled the orange care and upgraded the house insurance. Hope this might help you and others xx0
