I want to buy an ipad....but which one to go for ?

Options
For some reason, not quite sure why but I fancy buying an ipad. My daughter has one and seen the grandchildren playing on one. Think it would be good to take on holidays as I do sit on the computer quite a bit at home, but unsure which one to go for. Retina display one seems to be the latest, but unsure what the difference is and there is also ipad 2 etc. Just need a bit of guidance please, as I want to buy the best and not find out I've made a mistake afterwards.

No really. With apple, you pay more for the name than you do for the actual product.

The iPad 2, pre-retina display is still a good cheaper contender. I can't say whether you find a noticeable difference between that, but that will come down to what you do. There is also the iPad mini, iPad 2 specs, not retina etc, but more friendly on size, just not on wallet.

Would you specifically want an iPad, or would you look at comparable android tablets too?

I think probably an ipad because the daughter and grandkids have them. I've been looking online at the ipad retina display 32gb and at John Lewis you get a 2 yr guarantee, but still really know nothing about them for to compare.

    Good morning.
My son has a ipad2 and i have the ipad3, when you place them next to each other and view the same webpage, the ipad3 with the retina display is much clearer and colourful.
Other than the display go for the ipad3.

Best iPad is the Nexus 10.

Even better at the price was the Note 10.1 pre Christmas with cash back net £268 .
But really its a question of how much and are you already tied in to Apple or Android .
Notable that the trend is now to no on-board add on Micro SD storage . In that case you need bigger original storage and or a NAS home server .

Do you want 3G or wi-fi version-that's the first decision to make? Then screen size-standard or mini?
