Really? In a UK Magistrates Court on an issue of strict liability. I don't think so.
Any examples?
Just to add that I have actually been involved in cases where the BBC has withdrawn before trial in very similar circumstances to those described in this thread.0 -

How did you fair with this piglet?0

I know from postings in another forum that Piglet was found guilty (in absentia, I think) and received £100 fine.0
-
It was £100 fine from the court, 15 offender levy (this may only apply in NIreland, I'm not sure) and 32 loss of revenue from tv licence, total £1470
-
£147 for not being in the wrong.
Not something I would ever pay for.
People let themselves get walked all over too much these days.
Then whinge when people tell them this.0 -

There's not much in the way of justice in many of these TV Licensing cases. The whole system is stacked against anyone who wishes to protest their innocence, and is designed so that a quick admission of guilt is rewarded with a smaller penalty.0 -

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it might just be me but this seems a little harsh when you see what some of the cases / offenders are getting going through the courts....0 -
case was reheard yesterday, fine was dropped, as was offender levy, I now only owe £32 for loss of revenue for 3 months :j0

I have received a court summons for non payment of TV licensing after receiving a visit from an officer from Capita, I know I haven't payed it, I am a student and I completely forgot I have my assignments on my mind day and night, is there any way I can speak to the courts and agree to pay without having to go to court? I know I will be able to pay it before the court date is due. I have also called TV and set up a new TV license with them, currently just waiting for a payment card to be sent in the post. Will non payment of TV show up on DBS check?0
