Thank you so much all of you

Yes I've been busy with Mr SA finally home last Tuesday 27th until Wednesday 4th when he goes back for his stem cell transplant. His tumour is now a "small patch of ill defined enhancement" according to his discharge notes so presume this is good. In himself he is almost back to normal. His mobility has greatly improved since he got home and he is eating for England (and probably the rest of the UK!). He is really enjoying his home leave and we have rediscovered our local pub- loads of meals out. We should have been going to Portugal as of yesterday - instead I was sitting in the dentists chair at the time we should have been flying. Don't even ask about finances!!!! Got paid yesterday but not even looked at bank account. We are treating this week as our holiday. He isn't even taking that much caring for although he wants to go all over in his wheelchair.

Will be looking at finances situation next Thursday once he's back in hospital.

    Will keep you all updated.

    Excellent news, Sun.A! :D

Given the last six months you've had, I bet you and DH enjoy your holiday at home more than "just another beach holiday" for a couple whose lives haven't been turned upside-down..
If it's any consolation the weather has turned; windy and more thunder storms on the way..

It's a bit late now, but as MrSA is relying on you pushing him round to the pub frequently, you might like to consider borrowing or renting a powered chair / mobility scooter for a while, when he comes home after his transplant. ;)

Thanks all - and Robin we looked into powered wheelchair for this week but rental is for minimum 2 weeks. However we'll look again when he's next discharged as this would be handy - he tires very easily as you can expect.

Since I last posted we have had further travels with the wheelchair including local fete type thing which involved us going up and down hills which was interesting to say the least. Unfortunately where we live, although we are on the flat, you can't go anywhere off our road without going up or down a very steep hill. So hiring a motorised chair next time will be a priority.

Today we have had a visit from community care to measure up for grab rails and to see what care package we need. Also we are getting new stair carpet on Thursday as our idea of painted stairs has not worked out as we thought so we have given in to having carpet back. Plus finally got a gardener coming round tomorrow for quote to tidy up neglected garden. Also ordered steam mop from Appliances Online coming on Thursday. Have been after one of these for ages and decided to get one delivered while I'm off work. So busy and expensive week.

Tomorrow is Mr SA's last day at home before stem cell transplant. He has to have PICC line fitted Wednesday morning then appointment with consultant prior to admission to stem cell ward. We've both had a lovely week so it will be hard to let him go again but at least it's only for 3-5 weeks not 5 months as before.

Back with finances update Thursday as will be in all day for carpet and steam mop.

    Good evening all

Garden quote was £495 for 2 men 2 days plus skip. Mr SA thought this was reasonable so we said go ahead. They can start 23 September. This is to cut down several trees and bushes. What I like about the garden company is that they employ unemployed disadvantaged people to give them a chance in life.

Mr SA and I have had a lovely last day together before his next stage of treatment. We went to Nandos for lunch - a first for both of us - and he loved the chicken and as a veggie I enjoyed my Mediterranean salad. We shared a bottle of cava tonight which was very nice. I will miss him for the next 3-5 weeks but realise he has to have this treatment so he is "clean" as they refer to it. He is so much better that it almost seems like a miracle so I'm hoping that this stem cell treatment will do the trick and I will get my man back.

Dreading looking at bank on Thursday but feel better that things are getting sorted and we will use the refunded holiday money to pay for everything.

Whilst we were in city centre today Mr SA wanted to buy me a present for missing my birthday. I had to steer him away from expensive jewellers and we ended up in Argento where he bought me a gorgeous bracelet and pair of earrings in the sale which incredibly only came to £13!!! I love this shop!! He was happy and so was I.
