  • Sorry to hear you had a bit of a damp squib of a Christmas SA. The list next year is a good idea - DD and I always have a list. We don’t buy everything off it for one another but it gives good ideas for books, etc and then we always have a couple of “surprise” gifts.

When I de-clutter my bug bears always seem to be books and clothes!

Have a good relaxing evening with your little dog! Always good company when the humans fail!:)

Another night Mr SA has kept me awake with his coughing. Good job I'm not at work this week.

Woke up to it white all over with frost, looks very slippy.

I need to put together the plastic drawers then tackle the cupboard under the stairs today. One plus point of Mr SA being poorly is that I'm getting things done that have been on the to do list for ages.

Will have to take the dog out and we need milk so will have to venture out at some stage.

Not sure when we'll get DD's wardrobe done though, hoping for this weekend. Was also hoping to go out for lunch on New Year's Eve.

Payday tomorrow but no great excitement as every penny is earmarked for bills and paying the credit card. Won't be alone on that one this time of year!

I'm going to be cheeky next year and give them a list to pick something from, they won't be expensive things, just stuff like bubble bath or a book I want to read.

Mr SA has been coughing all night so I've not had much sleep. Then he switched the TV on at 4.45 am! He's full of cold and his chest sounds really wheezy.

Weather is awful - cold, windy and raining. Hoprfully it'll clear up before I take the dog out. I need to pick a few bits up from the local shops today too. Can't believe the fridge is almost empty.

Today the plan is to tackle my dressing table drawers and chest of drawers.

All this decluttering has revealed what I already knew - I'm obsessed with books, magazines, notepads and toiletries/cosmetics. :)

    Have a good day folks.

Sorry your Christmas fell a bit flat SA. I think giving DD and DS a list of what you'd like is a very good idea, nothing worse than a disappointing present. I always tell DH what to buy me and he makes suggestions to the DC (vetted by me) :).

You sound lije you're getting lots of de-cluttering done :T.

Just having a break for lunch but have almost finished the cupboard of extreme doom :) Can't believe how much junk was in there! Such a waste of a good space though, it would make a great downstairs loo.

Mr SA tried to interfere when he thought his tools were involved but I got rid of him by saying if he was better we could do DD's wardrobe. So he's back in bed now.

Took the dog on the park this morning followed by the shop. Saw three people I know while out so had a few chats which was nice as I'm starting to miss having a decent conversation, which is the downside of being off work.

My biggest fear when I retire (apart from being skint) is that I'll be one of those people who go for days without speaking to anyone.

I worry about that when the kids leave home as DH and I work from home . I'll need more outside hobbies or some voluntary work then I think.

We give suggestion lists - have done since kids were young teenagers. We always put lots on and expect 1or2 so there's still an element of surprise.
Sorry your Christmas fell a bit flat. We travelled to dds -a 5 hour journey and spent the whole time feeling poorly.......I was really miffed as was really looking forward to it - it was nice seeing the kids at Christmas but not the one I'd planned at all....

    Decluttering is sounding. Good.

Finished the cupboard. Glad I had the idea of the plastic drawers for Mr SA's tools as everything is together now and will stop him thinking someone's stolen his tools when he can't find them.

It's lovely to see it so tidy and I hope it stays that way. There's even room to put the Hoover away now.

Not done a lot else today as the cupboard took longer than I thought.

Mr SA is feeling better, he's eating again and up and about.

No major decluttering plans for tomorrow, need to sort finances and come up with goals for 2018. Also clean out the fridge, do an inventory of freezer contents and a meal plan.

Mr M delivery coming in the morning, they sent me a voucher for £9 off £90 spend. Originally I wasn't planning on spending that much but it will mean £90 worth of stuff for just over £70 with the staff discount so have added a few things, but all things I will need in the next week or so. Hopefully this will mean next week's shop isn't much above £40.

I think you have to have some sort of outside interests when you retire. I’ve a whole list of things to do (health permitting) ready for when I retire - I can’t wait to be honest!:)

  • It's 14 years until I can retire so it seems ages away, but I'm looking forward to having an old age pension and a free bus pass (hope they're still doing them when I retire) :D. DH will get his pension in 12 years so that's even closer. Not that I mean to wish my life away!

It's good to have plans for your retirement SA :)
