Thanks Brizzle
So today the bath, sink and vanity unit are in and we have water in the bathroom now. The boiler was working long enough for me to wash my hair and have a quick bath. Then DD came home from work, announced there was no hot water, I checked the boiler and the water pressure was too low. Rang the builder, he will sort tomorrow. Had a bit of a spat with DD as she said I see you managed to get a bath as if I'd run all the hot water off!!!!
The builder ran us to B&Q for bathroom tiles, paint, etc. The bathroom will be half tiled the rest painted. I went for neutral colour tiles, was going to pick a neutral paint, then saw a bright green-blue and decided to go for that, inject some colour.
Mr SA fed up of building works now - I am too. Can't imagine it ever being finished.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

Boiler sorted this morning, it was an air lock in the towel rail. DD finally got her bath!
Today's progress is new flat roof over kitchen extension.
I think I might ask the builder if he knows a painter who can do the bathroom as I'd hate to get paint on the new suite/tiles. Would be nice to have it done properly.
I got a £20 gift voucher from work today as a thanks for the London note taking
Tonight's dinner was microwave meals - beef hotspot for Mr SA and Thai veg curry for me.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

I'm on a roll - another £20 voucher from work, also for the note taking in London
Saving the vouchers for 11 August when I've got the day off and meeting friends for lunch, bit of a shopping trip beforehand
Today's progress is lights in bathroom and back door completely bricked up.
Planning a trip to the launderette tomorrow - living the high life, don't get jealous LOL.
Mr SA fell over some bricks today, rang me at work to say he'd dislocated his shoulder - he hadn't!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Must be crazy but have just agreed to friend of DD staying "for one night only" after being thrown out. Hope they realise they will be staying on building site, hope they are well behaved. Hate the thought of someone being out on the streets but then you think what have they done. I thought she mentioned the word "he".
On the plus side she is now frantically tidying her room.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Having been "on the streets" you may have saved their life... regardless of what they may or may not have done, you have provided safety and shelter. I am sure DD wouldn't offer to someone that she felt she couldn't trust either.
When I was on the streets I endured several attempts to rob me of the little that I had. Thankfully I was and am able to defend myself and I did not lose anything to my attackers (can't say they didn't lose anything though... )
I was lucky though, after a few months friends put me up and I slowly got myself back together again...
You are a lovely person SA and you are doing a very good thing (DD too ;D )

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Lovely words Uncanny Scot. So pleased you got yourself sorted.
Not entirely sure the mystery person had been thrown out - they arrived in a car rather similar to the one DD's mystery date turned up in a few weeks ago. He also left this morning so obviously had somewhere to go. Wonder if it was a ruse to get boyfriend to stay. I'd rather she told me the truth, I wouldn't mind if she had her bloke to stay, she is 30 after all. On the plus side she washed the pots that had been stacking up in her room and changed the bed linen in preparation.
Been to the launderette today, had 4 machines on the go. Piled Mr SA's scooter up with bags of clothes. Weighed a tonne! Took the dog with us and sat outside Costa while we waited. Got everything dry, most of it ironed
Mr SA broke my Saturday night wine glassHe is so careless, didn't even apologise just said get another one.
